Default Flashy Maiden Wins?

What is the most impressive maiden win you have witnessed?

Historically speaking, I'm sure it wouldn't rank among the most impressive, but Big Brown's was the best I've seen.

First one that comes to mind was Bag. I'm sure I'd come up with others.

It was one of the all-time slowest Saratoga debut wins ever.

Loved Red Ransom's too. And Paradise Creek.

That 64 Beyer he earned really blew me away.

If the Hough horse hadn't had early trouble, Scipion would have been second.

I don't know if it's considered flashy, but Artie Schiller came from the clouds to get a horse on the wire.

Discreet Cat's was strong ... but there are many great ones that are very hard to seperate.

Ghostzapper had a great debut win .. I know I sent Kiri's the tape of it for Youtube.

Artie Schiller's and Riskaverse's were two of my favorite turf ones .. but neither were crazy fast.

Badge Of Silver had the best one I've ever seen in the 4.5f Keeneland races. Chilukki from the early season CD 2yo races.

Formal Gold's 112 Beyer is the fastest ever for a debut.

Many of the ones already mentioned had great ones. Tiz Wonderful had a pretty forgotten recent great one.

As for flops..the Pletcher filly Tugger ran a 111 and only managed to win a Grade 3 ... she was a tremendous flop. Straight Man ran a 109 in his debut .. and though he did win a Grade 2 stake and just missed in a Grade 1 beating a last out Breeders Cup Classic winner ... he was certainly a flop.

Riskaverse?

You have to be kidding. Granted, obviously you bet her at 10:1 ( as did I ), but she had a perfect trip up the fence.

She isn't a big named horse by any means but Donnaguska's at Hawthorne was pretty sweet.

Quote:
Donnaguska, a first time starter owned by Billy Hays and trained by Joe Woodard, makes a remarkable stretch run to win her debut by two and a quarter lengths at Hawthorne Race Course on October 23, 2008. As track announcer Peter Galassi noted, Donnaguska was "far, far, far, far back" early under jockey Israel Ocampo. The three-year-old daughter of Yonaguska was sent off at 17-1, the second longest shot in the field of nine. She is number three, but for most of the video that doesn't matter because you won't see her. According to the official chart she was about 23 1/2 lengths behind at the top of the stretch, meaning she ran her final quarter-mile in roughly :21 1/5.

I thought her turn of foot was pretty explosive ... turf sprint debut wins are hard to gauge.
