totally agree, and the undercard usually is decent. I'm still bitter about the a.m. stakes races.

I was mad until I started looking at the farbage on the early part of the card, but now I'm content to show up at noon around R6 and skip some of the early b.s.

The purses are bunk. The sport hasn't even attempted to be competitive with the breeding game.

Have to agree. Pretty unimpressive, though I like Belmont's card.

don't tell me that, i don't have strength to play multi-cards on saturday since i'm attending the preakness. But its not a big surprise that there are better cards to wager on saturday. I can only put soo much attention into 5K state-bred claimers running for a 35K handicap race

Seventh Street would have been 1-9 in this race... trade a 1-9 for a 3-5.

As for the Preakness undercard, I think the Dixie is very good. Beyond that, yeah it kinda sucks, but Churchill's undercard wasn't much better. ACCREDIT won the freaking CD stakes.

Accredit won because it was in the slop, and anyone not getting a piece of that one was asleep at the wheel.

The class of stock that day compared to what is in tommorrow might as well be a different breed with very few exceptions.

The point is he's a total mediocrity, slop or no. That hopeless Temple Street almost won a G1 on Derby Day despite having a high Beyer of like 80 FGS. At least Pimlico is trying to card some meaningful races and not giving us two three-year-old turf allowances masquerading as "graded stakes". Besides the Derby and Woodford, the Derby card sucked quality-wise, and it's the same with the Preakness card (Preakness/Dixie).

The Belmont undercard routinely blows both of them out of the water anyway, so this is really a pointless argument.

You don't think Sea Chanter has a chance? She didn't do too badly in her dirt try last time.

Even if the card sucks, is anyone going to give the 1million pick 4 a try?

Not really. Seattle Smooth is a Grade 1 filly against a bunch of allowance horses. Sea Chanter's a turf horse that ran OK turf-to-dirt. Those types usually regress in their next start, and she'll be overbet by anybody trying to beat the big filly. My guess is she'll be back on grass soon.

Meaningful???? Even the graded races have multiple horses coming in 2nd off a claim. Maybe a few Churchill races were masquerading, but with Pimlico there is no doubt they are cheap stock.

$5 says Sea Chanter runs at Pimlico anyways.
