Didn't Team Valor purchase some horse in Europe specifically with this race in mind?

Gitano Hernando to miss Belmont One horse withdrawn from consideration for the Belmont is the European-based Gitano Hernando, who finished second in the Dee Stakes in England on May 8. According to Barry Irwin, head of the Team Valor International syndicate which owns the horse, Gitano Hernando came out of the race lame. "He will need to walk for about three weeks, which eliminates him from the [Belmont]," Irwin said. "We plan to point him for grass racing this summer on the East Coast." |

If that's the field, it looks like Rachel will be coasting along on the lead in a field full of stalkers and closers

Where is the Lone Star Derby winner going next?

I really would like Rachel A to run in the Belmont
Of course, I guess lately I've been a sucker for "the wise guy" pick, who in this case must be Charitable Man. We've get a 10 horse field, or so and Chocolate Candy,Dunkirk- a solid Triple Crown group right there with Rachel and Mine That Bird |

I think Charitable Man is going to be ridiculously overbet in the Belmont relative to what his odds should be and I'm not high on his chances to win the race at all.

Dunkirk seems to have overcome his issues.

To start, he's a sickly-looking, lightly-raced colt. His stride is suspect in his races and I think Prado did him no favors in the Derby. I assumed he skipped the Preakness to get straightened out.

i just wrote a letter to the editor of the ark. democrat gazette. the idiot sportswriter, wally halll, had an article today saying rachel alexandra should retire, should rest on her laurels. that jackson should not 'put her in harms way'. she has 'nothing left to prove'. i wonder if they'll print my letter....
i suggested that perhaps it was really time for mr. hall to retire! that he apparently is advocating ending the sport entirely. bah what a moron.

here's the dem-gazette article that set me off last night, it was linked on equidaily (love that site!)
http://www.nwanews.com/adg/Sports/260004/ wally hall sounds like a hysterical daytime soap opera queen. yeesh "Let her final racing picture be in the Preakness winner's circle." they pay this guy? for this drivel?

I would think something would have to be wrong with Luv Gov to skip this one. Isn't this what DWL was prepping him for all along with those 28 MSW races?

From Belmont Park Notes Team, Brave Victory added to Belmont lineup...
Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito and owner Robert V. LaPenta, who teamed to win last year’s Belmont Stakes with Da’ Tara, will have two starters in the 1 ½-mile Belmont – Miner’s Escape and Brave Victory. “They’ll both work either tomorrow, Friday or Saturday,” said Zito, who also won the 2004 Belmont with Birdstone.
