Default The Wood 5/29

It's will certainly be an all LA night tonight, with the Lakers Nuggets game going right into the action at the Wood. Last Friday saw Dean Smith cash on the early 4 with an impressive $16 ticket that paid $854. Then Suffolk Shippers nailed the late quad that paid $975 for his $45 dollar investment. It was a great turnout by the DT crew and hopefully it will be a repeat tonight. The early quad looks brutal and includes 2 races for maiden 2 year old claimers. The right ticket could see a handsome payout tonight.
Good Luck to everyone.

1st 5F MDN 40K 2 YEAR OLDS
#1 DANDY DANCERJust missed at 4 1/2 furlongs last out. Speed and the rail, thinking he might be a wire to wire threat.
#9 SUITCASE SIMPSON Making his 2nd start. He's coming out of the same race that produced the first 2 finishers out of last Fridays race at the same level. Seems to be working well in preperation of his 2nd start.
#7 ANITA BREWSKI Coming out of statebred MDSPWTs, where it looks like he showed some stalking ability. Any improvement off his last race should be him right in the mix.

#2 DAYLIGHT STORMwarrents consideration. Right now I am leaving him off my ticket because I can't afford to be 4 deep in this leg. He is adding Lasix, Blinkers and picking up a leading jock in his 2nd start. He will be running 5 panels for the first time and has the speed inside of him. I am thinking his price will be short and he might get caught chasing the 1 to his inside.

2nd 6F CLAIMER 10K
#3 SACRED MOUNTAIN Making 1st start off a layoff for the 0-fer Ed Moger barn. This closer seems to be working well for his return in this race loaded with speed.
#6 GREEDY WAY Looks like the speed of the speed in the race. I'm willing to toss last as he got stuck breaking from the rail and then getting caught wide on the turn. Raffie back aboard as he was the pilot for this 6 year old's 2 past victories.

PICK YOUR POISON
There are 2 horses making drops in the field
#4 KBELLO Dropping from the 50k level. Not sure what happened on the downhill turf course last time, but the 2 starts before that were really not bad. Ran 5th running for 62.5k on 3/4, Topper Shopper came out of that race too and he ran a big 2nd in last Friday night's feature. This versatille 4 year old seems to be working well and I'm hoping that the cagey Koriner is just trying to steal a purse with this fishy drop. I will be using.
#7 CAPE TOWN KING This 8 year old is only making his 11th career start. Ran 2nd to a repeat winner next out on 4/22 off the layoff. Making the drop to his lowest level after that effort. Lots of layoff lines on his PP's and maybe Hess just wants him out of the barn before he gets hurt again. He will be another one near the lead and would not suprise me if he wins. But he won't be on my ticket.

3rd 5F MDN 40K 2 YEAR OLDS (ladies version)
Seems like an absolute crapshoot. I can make cases for 7 horses. Not sure whom I will be using yet. The first 3 are the ones I am leaning to right now.
#3 DELTA MAGIC Ran against the boys in her first 2 starts at Sunland. Shows steady improvement for her 2nd start on the Cali circuit.
#6 GOTABILITY Never had a chance after bad start in debut. Sherlock 29% when adding the shades. Decent work on the 23rd and thinking the price will be generous.
#7 HAYLEY'S HALO I really like the 5/24 work. In this race with no standouts this filly could be ready at a price for the low percentage barn

Others I'm Looking at
#1 CHATTY LULA Rail, Drop, positive rider switch for filly that has taken some money in first 2 starts.
#2 SECRET HEIRESS Only a couple of average works, but trainer (I've never heard of) has some gaudy numbers with limited starters.
#9 SUCH FORTUNE Had some trouble in her first start. Dropping for a tag and breaking from an outside post.
#11 SATURN MOON Warrents a look if she should draw in from high percentage connections.

4th 7 1/2f CLAIMER 25K
#5 CATO MAJOR Making 2nd start of the layoff. Four year old filly seems to have some tactical speed. Shows good works for her 3rd lifetime Hollywood start where she has ran first and second.
#4 JEN'S NEW CHAPTER Back on the fake stuff where she has hit the board in 7 out of 8 starts (2 wins). Also on the drop, this 5 year old should be coming late.
#3 PINDARIC Going out for the hot Truman barn, this 7 year old will try to put in a repeat performance of her vcitory on the 6th. I'm guessing that she will be fowardly placed waiting for the #1 OAKHILL GIRL (who might be lone speed) to fold.
1,7,9
3,4,6
3,6,7
3,4,5
$81 dollars for a buck. Good chance that there will be some tinkering.
Good Luck.

Friday night under the lights!!!!!!! Should be a great respite from the soggy east coast. One wrong move prohibited me from joining Dean in the early pk4 winners last week, so we will try to get back at them tonight.....picks to come later

I'm printing out the PP's as we speak (at work of course)...not sure I will play tonight, but I'll try and post some thoughts. Just from the looks of the entries the early four looks very challenging.

Let's repeat some of the success we saw last week!

With 2 of the races in the early pk4 being 2YO races I might just save my bullets for the late pk4 which does look juciy. Got a few that I really like tonight

Race 5 #3 Princess Amelie 6-1
Race 8 #11 Leavin In A Limo 5-1 (and the #1 at 8-1)

Default Late 4

Looks much more manageable.
5th 6f CLAIMER 25K
#6 MAGGIE AND HOPIE 2nd off the claim for Carava and she is coming of a freshening. Just missed for 20k last out and now finds a softer spot in this conditional claiming race. Should get a stalking trip.
#3 PRINCESS AMELIE 5 year old finally gets some class relief. Her 3rd off the layoff and making a substantial drop.

6th 1 1/16 MILES STR ALW
#1 SINGITA Sadler seems to have this 3 year old filly moving in the right direction. Ran 2nd at the level last out after breaking her maiden in the prior start. Stalking type should save all the ground.
HOT'N LACEY I'm thinking that this filly is a wire to wire threat. She seems like the lone speed in her first race since breaking her maiden.

7th 6 1/2F OC 80K
#9 CANDY LION 2nd off the bench for Hollendorfer. This off the pace colt should benifit from a hot pace in this race loaded with speed.
#2 DARK AND DEEP Coming off his maiden breaker in a race where he stalked a very hot pace. Any sort of improvement should put him in the mix in his 2nd start off a layoff.
#8 BEST MON Coming off a blazing maiden breaking win. The 3rd place finisher out of that race came back to win next out. Harty is winning at 43% with limited starters at the meet so far. Thinking he is the speed of the speed in the race and a chance he could be a price.
#5 ZENSATIONAL Playing against this 700,000 Zayat purchase. Baffert trainee is working well for return to races after a brief freshening. And with loads of other speed in the race, chances on a short price added to it will be his first race at Hollywood I will try to beat him. But he is very playable.

8TH 6 1/2F MDN CLAIMER 25K
#1 IZEMINE Shades come off this 4 year old cutting back in distance. Working well and gets the rail. I expect him to be fowardly placed.
#8 VICAR'S WALK Versatille gelding has just missed in last 2 starts. Looks like he could go to the front or rate if needed. Doesn't seem like a ton of speed in the race, so I'm guessing he will try to do it from the lead.
#11 LEAVIN IN A LIMO It seems like this 4 year old has been close. He has burned a lot of money, but he does have the most constant Beyers in the field.
#15 DENIEN If he gets in he will be on my ticket. Just missed at the level in his debut on 4/24. Back in for 25k after unsuccessful attempt against statebred 40k company. Draws outside for his 3rd career start and will probably be on the gas. Bejerano is listed on him and the 10, curious where he will land.

3,6
1,6
2,8,9
1,8,11
$36 dollars for a buck
$48 if the 15 draws in the last.

Good Luck!

Well, the early 4 is a toughy. I'm not sure if I'll play or keep my bullets for the late 4. My early thoughts:

R1: 1,7
R2: 1,4,7
R3: 1,9
R4: 2,3,4,5,6 (SCR ADD: 7)

In the opener, I love Dandy Dancer on the rail, looks to make amends for flopping as the chalk in the May 6 effort. My safe pick is the 7, on the drop, and the second place finisher in the Apr 22 race came back to again run second but with a 74 BSF.

Race two, I'm taking the two droppers, Kbello and Cape Town King. I'd consider singling Cape Town King if I play this quad. Race is heavy on speed and CTK can close into it.

In the third, I'd consider also singling the 9, Such Fortune. I see this race as opposite of race two. This one seems void of early zip outside of Such Fortune, and IF she can make a good break, Chatty Lula.

I think the fourth is pretty wide open, I'm leaving the 7 out for now. She seems to need pace to close into and there is not much of it in this one. I cut the 6 Wood Art from my $45 late P4 play last week to single Hot n' Dusty.
So, I think it might be prudent to keep her around this week with the lack of speed.

Alright, I'll be on for the late P4, but I'm also throwing out a P6 for tonight.

P6: 9/3,4,5/6/1,5,6/5/1,11,15 $54

Late Quad: 1,6,8/1,5,6/5/1,3,8,11,12,15 $54

I feel this is a chalky night. Looking for a price in the night cap.

Brutal sequence, especially the 3rd... Gotta find a way to include 2 first time starters here:
2 Secret Heiress... Wildcat Heir's are deadly first out so far (56%; 5 of 9) and there sure as hell not much to beat in this bunch; sharp gate drill last.
5 Meetyouatgrouions dam, Dearest Place was 4th in MSW sprint first out, is 1 of 5 w/firsters and 3 of 5 w/2yos.

Some thoughts and my play for the early P4:

Race 1:
No. 7 Anita Brewski:
2nd time Lasix. Monster rider change from Valdivia to Rosario. Great workout right after last race.
Others on the ticket: No. 1 Dandy Dancer

Race 2:
No. 7 Cape Town King:
A standout from the Beyer standpoint no? Has worked well since being dueled in good fractions back on 4/22. Logical single.
Others on the ticket: No. 3 Sacred Mountain. Light on the Beyers but pace may set up this one. Lot of speed. Flying outside late at a price? Bejerano off will inflate price for sure.

Race 3:
What a headache this one is. Had hoped the 11 got in.

No. 1 Chatty Lula:
Experience edge in a wide open race.
Others on the ticket: No. 5 (Brad Free Special) and No. 9

Race 4:
Where is the speed in this race?

No. 6 Wood Art:
2-2 this year at this claiming level. Likes Hollywood. Got the taste of the lights last Friday.
Others on the ticket: No. 5 Cato Major; No. 3

17
37
159
356

$36 = Gross $88.80
