Royal Ascot chit chat
Thought maybe instead of posting on the Greak Freak, best horse you won't be seeing and HK threads we could have one place for this....

Only two horses you need to consider to have avery happy Royal Ascot....
J J The Jet Plane and Canford Cliffs - my 14/1 about him winning the Coventry looks very good now. Best 2yo Hannon has got.

I like Sacred Kingdom, but to me, he is a flashy sprinter. When he comes up against a very tough horse like JJ, he could find things getting a bit difficult for him. He seems to enjoy winning races easily and he won't be able to do that at Royal Ascot. I just think that JJ will have not only a race fitness edge, but he also looks like the Ideal type to win a big field sprint over a stiff six furlongs.
I'm most looking forward to Canford Cliffs though. I was told about him the day before he made his racecourse debut. The words, which I heard down the phone "best 2yo that hannon has by far" and after witnessing Monsieur Chevallier, you knew that this one was something special. He spreadeagled subsequent winners on his debut and will only improve. Looking forward to seeing the American horses, I hope they do well. I've heard that the Queen Mary candidate looks a right tool

I think Jealous Again will have a big chance in the Queen Mary.

from racingpost JOCKEYS Kieren Fallon and John Egan teamed up to give US trainer Wesley Ward's ground-breaking Royal Ascot team a first feel of British racecourse surroundings on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket on Wednesday morning. Overseen by Ward"s assistantJose Corrales, the work kicked off with Fallon aboard the Albany Stakes-bound Aegean, who went three furlongs at a brisk pace with fellow juvenile Jealous Again, who was ridden by Egan. Jealous Again showed the uphill finish held no terrors for her when bursting five lengths clear of a partner under a hand ride and on this evidence would appear a live contender for the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes. Aegean had held the upper hand the last time these two met in public at Keeneland in April but she took a little time to get her act together in the dip. Corrales said: "This is the first time these horses have been on grass since they came over here last Thursday. Jealous Again worked well, maybe too well. I told Johnny to go 36 which is 12, 12 and 12 per furlong but maybe he did it in 34 and change."

Any word on Yeats? His shock loss in his debut this year makes one wonder; is he the horse he has been? 'Course, Geordieland seems to be better than ever at 8, so...,

Wow, Paco Boy was sensational in the Queen Anne. The race was over when he hit the lead under a tight hold two furlongs out. Really impressive.
I've always been a big fan of Cesare, so I'm thrilled he came second. Gladiatorus was a big disappointment. Ahmed Ajtebi might get a bit of criticism for the ride. He did go very fast early in the race. |

From Jessica Lamb, Wesley Ward, trainer of American raider Cannonball, has always been bullish about his steeds chances and could say only this: "I didn't bring him over for the weather! The ground is plenty quick but he's the oneto beat."

Good lord. Scenic Blast swallowed the field up in four or five strides.
Nice efforts by the second and third horses, but he was a class above them. |
