Another tidbit is the big insurers Unitedhealth, Aetna, etc. want to cut their workforce (primarily agents) and the government plan will do just that.
This plan will do absolutely nothing to deter frivolous malpractice lawsuits. Wouldn't want to do that. Sharks can get violent when cornered.

There will never be tort reform, the single biggest reason for rising medical costs. Our Congress and Senate are made up primarily of lawyers. Reel in the lawyers and insurance rates will go down. Bingo. Crisis averted. 90% of the CITIZENS of the U.S.A are insured in one way or another. Doesn't really sound like a crisis to me.
