Default More Transparency From Washington?

Wonder why he wouldn't want details of Cash for Clunkers success released until he triples up the price? Wouldn't have anyhing to do with six of the top 10 vehicles purchased being Honda, Toyota and Hyundai?

And what happened to the new 'pay as we go'? Did I miss 3 billion worth of cuts? Any word on his cabinet's budget cuts? I know that dead line (lie) has come and gone.

No lets's remain focused on Republican adultry and keep 'printing and spending'....

People who support programs like this don't understand economics. They are pulling forward demand...therefore it is artificial, and you are subsidizing a shitty industry to begin with. Talk to me when you see car sales in the fall drop off a cliff..."Oh wait, no free lunch?" Nope.

They are just trying to get used cars off the market. Wanna buy a new "smart car"?

Just out of curiosity, where are most of the cars being assembled?

The devil is always in the details.

The Kentuckians who live here in Georgetown are quite happy that they are making tons of cars again, and haven't been laid off. So are the local restaurants, grocery stores, auto repair shops, dry cleaners, etc.

Oh, yeah - Toyota here in G'town did close down the factory for a couple of weeks earlier this year to save money.

What they did was offer to every employee, that if you came into the factory to do cleaning, etc.; or you went out into town and spent a week at Habitat for Humanity, soup kitchen, picking up trash, whatever community service you wanted - you'd get paid your regular salary. You also had the choice of getting a week's unpaid vacation.

Yea must be far better working for a Japanese executive rather than an American one and knowing the made from your labor is going back to Japan rather than here just warms the heart. Especially when you consider the tax incentives given to these companies for moving in and providing jobs. Such a Deal!

So you completely discount the impact of a thousand people earning $50-$80K per year on the local economy in a small town. Wrong.
