One glaring ommission from this blog is that the fed is profitting from the MBS it is buying. Oh...those silly details.

There is no assumption of profit till it is realized. Who are the buyers of all these MBS going to be?

The average yield is 4.5% and they are currently lending at close to zero. The fed is already making a profit if the default rate is low. Believe me...the default rate on these will be next to nothing. FHA is a different story.
