Default Sidney's Candy

I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned him. Pretty impressive today at DelMar, Race 7. Eased at the wire and crushed the track record.

You really think a bunch of addicts missed that huh? What other racing do you think they're watching at that time?

Have you gotten over the demise of super colt Pioneer of the Nile?

The horses aren't slow the surface over distance yields slower pace and overall times.

Pioneer of the Nile was slow. I'd have to say, judging what I saw yesteray, this horse is not slow.

Why can't Polytrack just be accepted as a third surface? It's not dirt and it's not grass. California, which pretty much screws up everything, clearly went too far in mandating all tracks convert to an artifical surface. Owners like Jackson are well within their rights to take their ball and go home if they don't want to play there. It's not great for the sport, but you can't blame people for having an opinion. It is a shame that the Breeders Cup decided to play on the Poly 2 years in a row. It should never happen again if the tracks remain the same in how they are surfaced.

Who doesn't accept it as a 3rd surface? That is exactly what it is..The question is why in the friggin world did racing need a 3rd surface.. I was all for Poly because I was convinced it was safer for horses and kept them from injuries, hence bigger fields.. Not exactly true ayh?

I'm not saying it did. I don't particularly care for it myself. But I am tired of listening to people blaming Jackson for not going to the BC. If the race was run on Turf would he be expected to go? Why should he go if he doesn't want to run on Poly?

Anyhow, I'm not looking to debate dirt v poly, I just really was impressed by what I saw yesterday, and I hope we see him outside of California before May of next year.

If that horse won like that at Saratoga the Sheik would be writing a large check. Of course the owner has a few bucks of her own.

The family is loaded with quality the colt can be any type. Sprinting on poly doesn't seem to produce slow times like routing does?

Exactly but because you can't determine IF the colt will be as good on dirt gambling on the unknown is less likely.

I never thought that this horse was anything but useful. You have me confused with the BEYER camp. It was they that need this horse to fail so that their figures would be, in some sense, validated. Hence, the grand spin during the triple crown season. Of course, this ultimately proved to be a failure and the higher ups in the camp got together and decided that rather than look ridiculous with the figures as they presently stood, they'd rather do some AD HOC tweaking of the POLY adjustments and at least get them to where they weren't laughable.

Hope this clears it up for you.
