Kev one of the worst decisions that NYRA ever made was to eliminate the middle two year old stakes races and push both the Hopeful and Spinaway from closing weekend back to Travers weekend. It simply made no sense.
The Hopeful will be as good this year as any running ever. Biancone will be running City Snitch, Lukas will be running that FuPeg freak, and Pletcher will be running Circular Quay, Soaring By, and Scat Daddy. It ought to be one for the ages and is sure to produce a great race.

I was getting ready to start a thread about the Hopeful and who might be pointed there...

Oracle, the Lukas Fu Peg horse is named Pegaus Wind. That horse is a total monster. His last race on the 29th was awesome. I really think he could be the best two year Lukas has had in a very very long time. I also agree with you on the bad decision by the NYRA and The Hopeful will be awesome.

Is Pegasus Wind the horse that lost to Circular Quay in his first start?
Did he win his race at Saratoga?

Pegasus Wind will be a good one if Lukas doesnt run him umpteeen times and takes a patient approach with him.

Tim...yeah, he won on the 29th....by 7 lengths.

1 Pegasus Wind: ducked in start, speed inside, set pace, drew away when roused
2 Most Distinguished: bobbled start, speed between rivals, dug in gamely for place
3 Bullara: speed 3 wide, chased pace, outfinished for place
4 Piggott: stutter step start, inside trip, no response when roused
5 Starting Edition: off slowly, greenly, wide trip, some interest late outside
6 Regal Officer: outrun early, no response when roused
7 First Defence: speed inside, chased pace, tired stretch
8 Monsieur Fruchon: outrun early, inside trip, no response when roused
9 Wallstreetcorredor: stumbled start, greenly, wide trip, tired

Yeah Lukas ran Pegasus Wind in the Bashford Manor which is a Grade III race. A little ambitious in my opinion. But this horse is going to be a good one.

Euro that horse has to be the best two year old that Lukas had in years. he was just sensational in his race up here and not too shabby making his debut against Quay in that stakes race. His effort up here was mind boggling. I know for a fact that Zito's barn thought that the second place finisher they had in that race was a cinch, and that Frankels firster who ran fourth was a real runner. Lukas horse broke slow and rushed up on a bad rail and just aired. he also truly looked like a horse with a high cruising speed and a burst of speed to go with it. Hes number two on my hit list so far of two year olds.
Here are my CURRENT Top Five.
1) Circular Quay has looked like a monster raw talent screaming to go further so far.
2) Pegasus Wind see above
3) Prime Ruler- Paasch trained son of Orientate had a nightmare trip in his debut at Del Mar and still aired agaisnt a LOADED field. This horse is the real deal.
4) Scat Daddy- perhaps hes better than his last race which looked a little lackluster, he ceratinly has speed and heart.
5)Soaring By- although the horses he beat aren't exactly running up a storm in their returns, he won so easily and fast that you can't judge him by that alone.

I have loved CQ since oracle came on here and told us all to go watch his debut if we hadn't seen it. I watched it that evening and was absolutely blown away. Then his last furlong in his stakes debut was incredible. I have seen a few of these others like Pegasus Wind and Scat Daddy and they certainly look like good 2yo (especially PW) but I don't think any of them will benefit by stretching out to 7f in the Hopeful as much as CQ will. I think he will blow by them all. I hope the field comes up strong for 2 reasons.
1) It will make it a fun race to watch.
2) Might get a halfway reasonable price on CQ.
