It was a good run, stayed a little too long. Now the Dumbo Fischer era can begin and probably end soon.

FSU is in deep trouble with Jimbo Fisher taking over. How is he going to recruit against Urban Meyer or even Randy Shannon for the best players in Florida? The cupboard is nearly bare in Tallahassee and I don't see Jimbo turning things around any time soon.

3 years maximum for the Jimbo tenure.

I'm going to try to forget the last few years and remember Bobby Bowden as a guy that was never afraid to go on the road and play anybody.

I swear, when Bowden got here in 1976, the school was flat broke so they stuck him with a 10-year road schedule just to make ends meet. So what's Bowden do? He goes to Nebraska and beats them there two out of four times. Usually a guy goes to Nebraska and just hopes his job is still waitin' for him when he gets back. Same with Ohio State. Bowden goes to Columbus twice and licks 'em twice. There's just somethin' about him. The more you get in his face, wave your towels, curse his kin, the more he eats it up. Like, take LSU. You know what it's like in Death Valley, right? One of those LSU fans bites you and you get tetanus shots for 12 weeks. But Bowden's been down there five times and came out with four wins between his teeth. He's also 1 for 1 at Notre Dame and 2 for 2 at Arizona State. The man is 48-24-2 away from home. Who needs Roger Miller when we got our own King of the Road?

These old guys, it is always about them and not about the program. They aren't role models, they are relics.

Florida is not just Tebow. They have the depth that FSU lacks. That depth allows the good teams to reload after graduation, players leaving for the NFL and arrests.

Gary Danielson (I know, not the greatest mind in football) said John Brantley is one of the top 5 QBs in the SEC right now.

FSU has a major depth problem, that takes years to fix. The good news is it looks like E.J. Manuel is going to be a pretty good QB, so they at least have that to build upon.
