Hits home when you see them all in one place.. And especially with ones you've touched with your own hands. For me..
Tobruk (From the Sciacca barn. Bred and owned by Phil Marcantonio) Alexandros (From the Del Carroll barn. Bred and owned by the Sarris Family) Happy Ticket (Got to be around her at Sciacca's barn 60, Breeders' Cup '05) Papi Chullo (At Kenny Lejeune's place in Ocala on a turnout while Aldeb was there) And unfortunately, a late addition to the list from FG Sunday.. V Jack.

Very sobering list. To think I have personally seen many of these on the track, have had rooting interests for them. And many of the stallions whose progeny we see every day. RIP TO THEM ALL.

Thanks for posting this MMSC.
After most of the year to think about it -- Dictina Too still bothers me to this day, and as callous as it sounds, there aren't many that bother me for any lengthy period of time. Sometimes I wish they did. And then I get one like D. Too, and I'm glad they don't, because it's tough to love a horse you've never seen in the flesh, never touched, never anything, as much as that and have her break down and then wonder what it would be like to have one you've been personally involved with pass on. I suppose before her, I watched my favorite horse get put down no more than seven feet from my face in Oregon, but now I'm going off on a tangent. And I hadn't loved one quite the same for a long time since that day. Thanks for posting that -- it's important to remember, I think. |

Blue Exit.....That one hurt. We raised our glasses and toasted him that night at the Arroyo Chop House.

it is very sad to see them all listed in one place.
maybe this isn't the place but this list made me think of it. how does the total number on this list compare to years past?

Very sad, but thoughtful and warm post. Thanks for not only remembering the obvious good ones who lit up our Saturday afternoons, but also the hard knockers who ran every other week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I hadd no ide we lost Sigh You or Gun Rock. RIP.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh Outweigh the bad. I thought we'd get to see forever But forever's gone away It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. I don't know where this road Is going to lead All I know is where we've been And what we've been through. If we get to see tomorrow I hope it's worth all the wait It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday. |

Mem'ries, Light the corners of my mind Misty water-colored memories Of the way we were Scattered pictures, Of the smiles we left behind Smiles we gave to one another For the way we were Can it be that it was all so simple then? Or has time re-written every line? If we had the chance to do it all again Tell me, would we? Could we? Mem'ries, may be beautiful and yet What's too painful to remember We simply choose to forget So it's the laughter We will remember Whenever we remember... The way we were... The way we were... |

After the Finish Line
What a sobering list, especially when one considers the horses that we lost track of.
RIP to these magnificent animals. Run with the wind, dance on the clouds, and fly with the angels. Here is another organization that provides (and has provided) funding to a number of thoroughbred rescue and retirement facilities around the US: http://www.afterthefinishline.org/index.htm
