A $100 Mil to Haiti but.......

I trully feel for those affected, really do. At the drop of a hat we are dedicating this money to the relief aid of those affected, but yet....

We can't help out our wounded soldiers coming home any better then to discharge them from clinics with serious brain damage who are unable to care for themselves and can't even pass a bill to help support the loved ones who quit their jobs/careers to care for them 24/7 any better then we do now?

There's a guy who hangs out at the OTB who lost a leg in Viet Nam. The stupid VA makes him show up every couple years to show he's still disabled. Like as if the leg is going to grow back.

However despite in the words of Sen Dick Durbin,(Idiot Dem IL) our military and former Pres being 'gastapo like', Haiti is in such a crisis we have no choice but to help. Wonder why the worm posing as a Senator from IL isn't concerned w/Gitmo anymore as Obama has obviously failed meeting his closing deadline.

The military medical system in this country is top-notch - literally the best care in the world, especially for vets returning from the middle east (better than civilian care).

The VA doesn't pay medical care for our vets for life when they are severely injured? (don't know, if not, I'm puzzled)

From what I hear from my Vet friends the VA is a circus. 2 of them recently passed away. One of them was a tunnel rat.

Sick soldiers fall thru the cracks in system. Every Vet I know says the VA system is a quagmire.

I thought it had been improved markedly in the past 15 years. I remember in the 1980's when I was a paramedic, going into VA hospitals rarely, and it wasn't pretty.

This President supports the military on a more social/familial level than the last seemed to (immediately changed policy to allow photos of returning deceased soldiers, etc), might be a good time to turn up the activism if there's really problems.

In the last year,there was a big scandal as to the conditions in Walter Reed
Medical Center. I realize that large systems move slowly, but I think the Vets need a vocal ombudsman with some clout! There are things more important than budgetary concerns.....taking care of those who protected us should be paramount, and inviolate.

Illinois' own Tammy Duckworth, a vet who is missing at least one leg and maybe two? Former very liberal congresswoman. Not sure if she was confirmed yet.
