There has been tension all year about Macha using the closer in the 8th inning. He and the bullpen coach didn't agree about it,and now the closer gets the dreadful groin injury trying to keep a 3-1 lead in what inning? THE 8TH INNING? LOL......I'm all cried out about it...LOL...Hurry back now. "We're going to see how it feels tomorrow," Street said. Yeah......I'm sure in the a.m. it will feel like CHOCOLATE N' ROSES. Last edited by SCUDSBROTHER : 08-19-2006 at 03:55 AM. |

"....He returned to Texas for his third and final season as one of the most highly touted collegiate players of the 2004 season. Street was on his way to another outstanding season when he pulled a groin muscle that hampered him for much of the rest of the campaign. He still posted excellent numbers – a 6-1 record with a 1.58 ERA and 12 saves – but his velocity was down all year. "-scout.com
Here is what will happen.Knowing this organization, and manager(not exactly been cautious with this pitcher's use,)they will give a prelim report that this is a minor strain.I think they will try to bring him back way too soon(10-14 dys,)and he will either not be pitching nearly as well as he was pitching ,and/or he will injure the groin further(reaggravate it.)Most players are out 2 weeks-2 months with groin strains. Players who have them often go back on the d.l. with them(reaggravate.) Whether he comes back in September or not(I will imagine he will,)the chances are poor that we will see the same awesome stuff from this closer in 2006.This is not a large man,and he will not be able to compensate for having 80-90% use of those muscles.Rocket(Clemons) yes,but not this guy. ********************************** ********************************** WOW,JUST LIKE DAD "Growing up the son of James Street in football-crazed Texas was like growing up in a royal family. Huston Street's father was the last quarterback to lead the University of Texas to an undefeated national championship season until Vince Young matched the feat this past season. James was 20-0 as the starting quarterback at Texas. The Longhorns' run for the national championship in 1969 included a 15-14 victory over Arkansas in a game billed as "The Big Shootout" that was attended by President Nixon. After Street led Texas to a win over Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl, former President Lyndon B. Johnson congratulated the elder Street in the locker room. James also won 29 games in three years as a starting pitcher at Texas during an era when the college baseball season was much shorter than it is today. The Cleveland Indians drafted James but a torn groin ended his career."-BY NEIL HAYES Contra Costa Times (Walnut Creek, Calif.) ********************************** ********************************** Last edited by SCUDSBROTHER : 08-19-2006 at 11:43 AM. |
