Default Outrage Alert !!! Name Recycling Outrage !!!

A crime against all humanity has been committed.

I noticed that a horse who ran in the third race at Del Mar yesterday was named IN REALITY !!!

How can that be? How can they allow a great name like that to be recycled?

It turns out that the horse was bred in England and named there ... but still ...

... how can the Jockey Club allow a horse to race in this country using that hallowed name? There have been many name recycling outrages ... but this one takes the cake!

Send e-mails ... make phone calls ... contact your congressman ... mayor ... senators ... minister ... rabbi ... priest ... imam ... and make the Jockey Club pay for this blasphemous outrage !!!

Unfortunately, each authority that has a stud book has its own rules and its own exclusion list. As a pedigree researcher I am always finding these sorts of duplications and decrying them. Already gnashed teeth over this new In Reality at my pedigree geek board after I saw her run in GB. Others that cause annoyance - Citidancer (Ire,1986) and Citidancer (USA,1987), both SWs and sires; Saros (GB,1974) and Saros (Fra,1974) - both raced in Germany about the same time, but only the first one stood in California; Sword Dance (Ire) comes mighty close to champion Sword Dancer; Red God (USA) vs. Red God (Aus); Admiral Drake (Fr) a champion vs. Admiral Drake (US). Have recently seen the names of several legendary broodmares repeated IN THE US, which I find offensive.

Lots of blah-blah ... and very bad examples ... as always, ditso.

How about Bold Lad, U.S. champion 2YO ... and Bold Lad, British champion 2YO ... and owned by sisters?

How about Spartan Valor ... U.S multiple-stakes winning colt ... and Spartan Valor ... U.S. allowance filly?

Yeah ... you're a geek all right ... and a pretty dumb one at that.
