National presence wanted for Apple Blossom telecast
Six weeks away from the showdown between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta, Oaklawn Park officials were working to firm up live television coverage of the $5-million Apple Blossom Invitational Stakes (G1) on April 9.
ESPN analyst Randy Moss is representing Oaklawn in the negotiations. Moss, a longtime Turf writer who developed the Moss Pace Figures, is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and he worked for Oaklawn for two years as operations director. Mark Mandel, a spokesman for the ESPN family of networks, said on February 25 that the company was in talks over television rights for the Apple Blossom. ESPN will carry the live broadcast of the Masters golf tournament the same day from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EDT. http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/nat...ce-wanted.aspx |

This race is bigger than ESPN. Pay Per View is more like it

There's already one sport on life support that puts its biggest events on PPV. We don't need another.

Sounds like a great way to attract new fans - make them pay for something they don't care about. You'd be a great racetrack exec. |

For the fans in Hot Springs, a Saratoga salute. Who actually knows where Saratoga is, let alone Hot Springs.? That's the problem, nobody but us.
