Interesting article- thanks for posting it. Speaking of Slew, has anyone posted BH's article on his loss in the JCGC? Here's the link to the story and video. I was very wee then, so I'd never seen the race- even knowing the end, it was really exciting to watch for the first time. Apologies if this is a repeat post.

Thanks for posting this; I get chills whenever I watch this clip. I'm sorry Slew lost, but I'm glad the race happened because he finally got the respect he deserved. I can't even comprehend fractions like 45 and 1:09 and change for a 1 1/2 race - Slew just didn't want to lose.

Good stuff . Enjoyed the read and the vid. And a highlight of my day at Aq yesterday was meeting the personable Andy Serling. Great day for racing .

03/09/1977, my dad takes me to Hialeah to see Seattle Slew run in an allowance race. The performance was so awesome watching from down on the grandtands apron I was hooked ever since

Slew also broke through the gate before the JCGC.

Per Jerry Brown the cushion was only 2" then and now its 3 to 3.5" surely you need to freshen up on track conditions...lol
