Hmmm...I wondered why he went from roughly a 8% in 2006-2008 to over 30% in 2009.

Logic would say that his main owner started spending money again buying and claiming cheap horses but this time has decided to concentrate on two of the worst circuits in America?

Doug O'Neil hasn't missed this trick as he has become a regular at Beulah.

It isnt hard to win races (especially at tracks where the competition is so feeble) if you are willing to lose a lot of money.

Every trainer in America uses those meds.

I cant knock a guy for running horses at CT. At least the purse levels are that of a B level track. Beulah is a tragic joke.

The pots at CT are good enough to make money with, especially if you are hitting at 42%. At Beulah you can be 100% and lose pretty much all your money.

3/19 total purses for 8 races at Beu -36k
3/17 total purses for 8 races at Beu -32k
3/16 total purses for 9 races at Beu - 38k

Woodard is a joke...If he cheats it is a Vet accident...because he is not calling the shots.
He is exhibit A, that a high win % does not exactly mean a sharp trainer.

What's scary is they average $1.5 million or so in total handle on Mondays and Tuesdays. I guess people really will bet on anything!

In the last week or two I've been seeing O'Neill on almost every card. He ships the pigs that can't win at Philly or Penn to CT and usually cashes a check. No idea why he would even bother with Beulah.

He has a maiden tomorrow that he keeps dropping off good performances that should win for fun if the duct tape holds together and the favorite in the finale that will likely win if the Ralph Comi Jr juice monster doesn't draw in.

Fn ridiculous that horses are used to compete at such disdainful levels.

That's what I'm wondering...what is the draw for guys like that to race there. I understand the people who have been there for years but these other guys...I don't get it. Do you think it is just to get some numbers in the win column?

But wouldn't it be more profitable to package a couple of those horses up for a couple thousand dollars and just sell them to one of the Beulah based trainers? Maybe they just want a win picture?

Look at the 3rd race from Beulah today where O'Neil had the winner. I can't believe the O'Neil horse paid $3.80 against that field.

Trainer of the 2 is 1/38 at BEU
Trainer of the 3 is 1/35 at BEU
Trainer of the 4 is 1/19 at BEU
Trainer of the 5 is 4/125 at BEU
