![]() ( Cardus probably won't be amused by my title but now that I have your attention (pervs)
![]() A friendly reminder... Racing fans are generous, compassionate people but sometimes we all need a little reminder so please... if you hit a pick 6 this weekend or are updating your will? If you have a couple of minutes and Pay Pal or a stamp (for those of you over 90 ![]() Please consider a small donation. If you have kids and want to do something nice - have them draw a picture of a horse, give them each 5 bucks (or 10 or 20) and let them pick a charity and mail it themselves... If you were a Barbaro fan, maybe honor him and write out a check in his name... Anything is appreciated, no matter how small, by these and numerous other organizations. I'm not pontificating here. I just figured this was as good a time as any so for the generous people who give around the holidays? Maybe make it twice a year? For the people who never have (made a donation) but who read the retirement and angel threads... maybe just once? Feel free to add any organizations I've left out as I'm sure there are many. ![]() The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation does so much good here in Virginia... For those who are near Colonial, they will be doing their summer fundraising event June 11th at Colonial Downs.
and from the Blackburn facility: "Stu got to do what ever he wanted to do on his final day. He was not only a horse but a friend. 'Come on Stu, today is your day --- you can do whatever you want --- and nobody will say nothing.......' He could have went anywhere he wanted to and yet ...he stayed close ---to his home and his friends. A true friend will stay with you until it is all said and done. He stayed until the end---He was a good friend---so I did what he did for me---stayed until the end........."Thoughts from an inmate-caregiver at Blackburn Correctional Facility on Stu's last day. Smarter Than Us (Stu) was a long time retiree at the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation farm at the Blackburn Correctional Facility in Lexington, Kentucky. The TRF was forced to put him down due to chronic pain. It is expected that euthanasia is often a necessary part of caring for our wonderful Thoroughbreds. What was not expected was the extraordinary expression of emotions that came to us from Stu's caregivers as they said their goodbyes. Beautiful Stu: http://origin.ih.constantcontact.com...181/img/74.jpg |
