Default Terrible Job By Monmouth On Saturday

I'm no homer. As happy as I am with the purse structure and taking the chance on their new plan, the tote system problem was far worse than the articles are talking about. Not only was the system out at Monmouth, but the simulcast system was out for nearly 75 minutes. You couldn't go to a teller. Machines locked up, sometimes as you were making a bet. Many people I know were shut out from betting the Pick 4 at Belmont. While this is going on they left the horses on the track with 90 degree heat for maybe 45 minutes, first loading half the field and then backing them out and waiting another half an hour to run the race with no betting....This was followed by another delay of 40 minutes later in the card. It was a disgrace. On Derby Day you had a huge portion of tote down and yet again on a big day it's screwed up again. It gives you no confidence.

Yeah, that was pretty bad. Yes it was a major xxxx-up but I felt badly for Monmouth. No one wants to see that happen under all the circumstances in racing now a days.

My friend had a .50 P5 in the works and it tied up $80 all day for him. He couldn't get his money back until the end of the day according to the teller. I was burried in the racing form at the end of the day when he left but I thought he said he could not get his money back until the next day. I could be wrong about that but I thought that's what he said.

Many people just left. It was scorching hot. Total **** up and it was long too....Not to mention it hurt Belmont's handle which they deserved.

The P5 was an "all" pay... so unless he hit, it was gonzo.

I just hope that he, too, didn't get burried.
