Good line by Christine O'Donnell
http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/201...ing-class.html
Excerpt: O’Donnell, who began her speech with a indictment of the Obama administration -- a reoccurring theme at the event, organized by the conservative Family Research Council -- said that the “incremental assault on our freedoms, our values, our free enterprise, our property rights our economic stability” had gone on too long. “We’ve watched the tentacles of big government weasel their way into every part of our lives,” she said. “Bureaucrats and politicians in Washington think they should decide what kind of light bulb we use, what kind of toilets we flush, what kind of car we drive.” She added: “They’ll buy your teenage daughter an abortion but they won’t let her buy a sugary soda in a school’s vending machine.” So true, and it will resonate with those on the fence. |

Just curious..why WOULD you want your daughter to be able to buy sugery soda? I don't and am glad that something is done about it. Just like if a pregnant teen would feel threatened telling her abusive parents she wanted an abortion, then I'm glad someone would be there for her. I guess I disagree with everything that the witch says above. |

No one is stopping your child from buying their own soda at the market and taking it to school.

What is the long term costs of welfare etc vs funding abortions? Or course you fund them.

The main problem with hypocritical Christine (professional grifter candidate who is about to be hit with criminal charges for using campaign funds as her financial support oh these many years) is that other voting adults don't want the oppressive government interference wanting to be forced upon us by Christine and her ilk - for example, they don't want their reproductive rights taken away by some other person in the name of their Jesus, gays are not the devil, we like medical advances that could cure diabetis and heart disease, science is real not "a theory", etc.

Obviously not,but if it's not available at school, that's one less place she can buy it...and not that she would

I think she misunderstands. The point is the school is not allowed to raise money by selling unhealthy foods and drinks to teenagers.
I want to know about these abortions the government will buy for teenage daughters. Do they come in different colors or do you just take what the government buys you?

I wasn't sure that anyone could act like Sarah Palin and find a way to do so with even LESS substance than Palin.
I stand corrected. |

I find O'Donnell far more articulate, a better speaker, than Palin. O'Donnell can construct a sentence. Unfortunately I think her brain has turned to mush in the worship of her god. A god who will magically intercede at the doorway, as O'Donnell faces Hitler with Anne Frank hiding in the attic, so she doesn't have to lie to Hitler about hiding Anne, as lying is always wrong. Always. Even lying to a murderer, to protect a life. Except when O'Donnell herself lies to the press (see her response the other day to Bill Maher putting out the witchcraft dabbling tape, saying she only said that to give Maher ratings) This girl is one screwed-up morality play. One may not like what's in the Senate right now, but you don't put far worse in it's place.

A majority of people lack willpower as evidenced by the obesity rate, the rate of personal debt in this country, and a wide variety of other personal ills that affect people today. On some level, a great many people need the government to look out for some aspect of their lives. Would be nice if it wasn't that way, but sadly it is.

We are not children. If people "need" someone to run their lives, they can hire people for that purpose (financial advisors and nutritionists for example). Don't make that binding on the rest of us who are handling freedom just fine. |

Perhaps people should reflect on the myriad of ways our "interfering" government has brought us to the place where we have that "handling freedom just fine" ability to go about our daily business and live our lives as we know it, mistakenly thinking we don't interact with or benefit directly from our government on a daily basis.

Since government taxes the people, and picks and chooses whom to tax more or less, and whom to give benefits to, and loses much of that capital in the process before distributing it, the net result is that your average citizen loses more to the government than he or she ever gains. Look at Social Security for an example. Most people will never even get back the principal of what they had stolen from them over their working careers, let alone any compounded interest. Social Security is a loser. You'd never consider it as an investment. It sucks. Yet you are forced to "participate". Even when it will assuredly return less than principal in the best case, and be bankrupt in the worst case. |

That's not at all what I was talking about
You think "you're handling freedom just fine" without interference from the government? That you're independent of government benefit? That's an illusion you have, enabled by the protections afforded you from the very government you are dissing. In the first six hours of your day, today, I'll bet you've benefited from "government intervention and supervision" in a myriad of ways you are apparently obvious to. In other words, you are nowhere near as far off the "government benefits grid" as you imagine yourself to be.
