![]() Broadcast Sports, Inc., (BSI) a world leader in wireless camera and audio systems, announces that for the 7th consecutive year they are providing their HD RF Cameras, Wireless Cameras and Talent Microphones, Wireless Effects Microphones, and monitoring and distribution facilities for live coverage of The Breeders' Cup World Championships, returning to historic Churchill Downs, in Louisville, Kentucky.
No stranger to the challenges of coverage at Churchill Downs after years of flawless coverage of the Kentucky Derby, BSI was an easy choice. Unlike other single race thoroughbred events, the Breeders’ Cup requires lengthy roving coverage over long days. Wireless systems are an integral part of this coverage and must be robust and reliable in order to meet the challenge. “Whether it’s human, horse or car racing, if it moves fast we cover it—and we cover it from the inside,” said Mark Polla, BSI’s Sales & Marketing Manager. “When it comes to providing the wide area coverage at the Breeders’ Cup, from the barns through the paddock onto the track and into the winners circle, BSI’s technology and expertise deliver a unique angle to the story.” Seamless coverage within and even between the various areas cannot be achieved with traditional single receive point infrastructure. BSI will deploy seven small-footprint RF over Fiber sites throughout the facility delivering coverage of the barns, track, paddock, winner’s circle, betting booths and high profile guest seating areas. These units provide diversity reception at each site and carry the appropriate spectrum back to the mobile unit over fiber optic cable. http://www.i-newswire.com/broadcast-...smission/69410 |

![]() I liked the camera angle used in 2000 at CD when the camera followed alongside the horses down the stretch.

![]() I wish they would just show the race live the way we are used to seeing it day to day. I hate all the crazy angles. Use those for replays.

![]() I love it at the end of the race as a replay... but there was some race this year (Derby maybe?) where they kept going to overhead shot during the actual running... and I could not tell who was who!

![]() Everytime they shift, the viewer has to re-oriente themselves and figure out who's who. It might only take a second or two, but it's annoying. The tracks are in the business of showing their races and I wish the national coverage would use their production for the race. Replays from the overhead, the inside the rail cam and all the other stuff is fine for afterward but if I bet on the race - and I intend to bet on the BC - I want to see it presented as I am accustomed to viewing.
What ESPN doesn't realize is that viewership is down because BETTORS are going to simulcast facilities so they can see the track feed. Most simo's will also have ESPN available for the post race analysis if you want it. With internet wagering so widely available, you would think that horseplayers would be staying home (or gathering with each other in homes) all across the country next weekend, but they won't. While "will pays" and "probables" are available on most ADW sites, the familiar views of the paddock, post parade, warm up and the actual race will all be missing or replaced by something inferior or confusing.

![]() That thing scared the bejeezus out of me every time they ran it back overhead to reset for the next race. Was sure it was going off track and would land on my head.
