Kagan's first Supreme Court ruling
against an execution because of questions involving the 'safety' of the drug that will kill him? Are you kidding me? Thankfully common sense prevails despite the Supreme Court's dingbat trio and Breyer.
And look at the efficiency shown by the State of Arizona. Guess the drug turned out to be 'safe' after all. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwo...,6859358.story

Too funny
Jeffrey Landrigan was scheduled to be executed Tuesday night for the 1990 armed robbery and strangulation of an Arizona man. Landrigan had escaped from an Oklahoma prison in 1989, where he was already serving time for second-degree murder. Hours after dining on a succulent on-the-house last meal of steak, fried okra, french fries, strawberry ice cream and a Dr. Pepper -- the okra was to die for -- the convicted killer, as is customary, was given the opportunity to say a few final words before departing this mortal coil via lethal injection. Following the execution, a prison official gave an account as to what exactly it was Landrigan decided to utter as the game clock of life was ticking down to double zeros. "Well, I'd like to say 'thank you' to my family for being here and all of my friends. Boomer Sooner." [tosses microphone] [dies] Quite the fan I'd say! http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...boomer-sooner/

That is quite ironic. The safety of a drug meant to kill you!

It would be pretty ugly to have the sodium pentothal not work, while the paralytic agent worked just fine and you suffocated to death while concious.

This makes it to the Supreme Court? Tells you all you need to know about the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. I hope this guy didn't get an infection from his injection!

It's pretty typical of all lawyers trying to keep their death row client alive, don't you think? They use anything, there are always stays, the stays advance quickly, they are overturned, the criminal is put to death. The stays nearly always advance out of the circuits to the Supremes because they are death penalty issues (who would want different Circuit courts establishing precedent)

They don't get to the Supreme Court very often for flimsy arguments like this. If they are against the Death Penalty PERIOD, they should just be honest about it and not just try to stop every single execution that they can for any reason imaginable. And I do mean imaginable. I would love to see the dissenting opinion.

It was probably the first "foreign drug" challenge ever received (why it made it all the way up). It's well known that foreign drugs (elderly getting their heart meds cheaply from Canada, Mexico for example) can have major efficacy problems compared to US stuff (fake drugs, wrong ingredient, weak, etc) Because they don't have that pesky government FDA interference like we have in testing and manufacturing

That would serve the criminal right. The criminal didnt care about killing a person, why should they be given any pity.

Especially since this guy was a saint, killing only 2 people (that we know of) and living on the tax payers dime, on death row for 20 years. Go back to supporting your Muslim men!

I agree. But it would be terribly cruel. Enough anesthesiologists have done that over the years to have good descriptions from patients of how awful it is.

Funny, I'm in favor of the death penalty, but "taxpayers' dime" doesn't even figure into it. Strange you weigh your tax money and the victim's lives equally.

How would you rate that against say a muslim group cutting off the head of a Jewish reporter while the anesthesia was a black hood and a 20-minute diatribe.

BTW, I found it horrific. Pretty much like I found 9-11. But not enough to blame all the Muslims in the world for the actions of those terrorists. I'll leave that to you.

Can we at least agree this went well despite the concerns?
And 20 years was too long!

Hate to disappoint the Muslim haters, but ad hominem attacks neither logically justify your silly beliefs, nor help recruitment to your cause.

I hate all gangs started up by a killer thug. Not just the Muslim one. There is nothing silly or funny about Islam. It's a gang started by a killer thug, and members are threatened if they ever try to leave the gang. Non-members of the Gang can not serve in the military of the country controlled by the gang. When the gang is in full control, their killer thug leader said to kill (or heavily tax) non members. You, like so many, make the mistake of calling this a religion. It is a gang, and comes with all the violence that any other gang has. It's a gang that is made solid by their common hatred of individual freedom. This is why Geedubbya's lil dream didn't take place. He could not understand why they didn't embrace their own freedom. What did they all say they thirsted for? Not freedom. Nope....Control. They wanted their own thugs in to control the country.
