Default Mount fees?

I came across this in BH...

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...ase-at-emerald

... and was pretty shocked at the amount(s).

Is this average? Lower than average?

Should there be some kind of uniform rate?

Completely typical fees. And jockey mount fees are already generally standardized on that scale.

Here's a chart from Lone Star as an example.

I cannot believe they're this low.

A horse wins a 15k purse.. Horse wins 9k..900 to the jock is low? Your trainer get 900 if anything the trainer should get 1200 and the jock 600. You think its tough to ride a Juan Carlos lay over the field ex 20 claimer running in a 7500claimer race, juiced at 3/5?

Philly's rate are flat there, all races regardless of class its $200 for a losing mount, 1st is 10%, 2nd/3rd's are both 5%.

They take $20 from every starter also, $10 for some promotional fund and $10 for the retirement fund.

Don't forget jock agents get a 25-to-30% cut per jockey they represent .. they have to deal with both jockeys and trainers though on a daily basis. Pity them.

The owner would get $200 for finishing 6th through last but the jock gets something like $100 for a losing mount

That is what I meant. Jock gets $100. So an owner nets $80 from running last, which pays for your pre-race.

No - just pretty much was using Facebook to get my message board fix.

I admire you for not having Facebook Freddy - bunch of people who believe they're interesting enough that they feel the need to update the world on their current doings and publicize their crap - and yeah, they're the same people who are trolling the internet for friends in the first place.

A place like this is 10 thousand times better - but it's a sausage fest over here. No one ever sends me titty pics. Never get any dates from hotties who overestimate me. Just mostly posting about horses and horse racing.

At least I'm not on twitter - which is like a synonoum for taint. Halfway between the twat and the sh!tter.

If it wasn't for twitter and blogs a certain group of racing fans wouldn't have a way to make themselves feel like they are so much more important than they are....
