Look at the types of horses he's running there this meet, though -- I'd be clicking at a good 10% with his horses just by keeping them in my garage and driving them over in the morning.
A bad GG $8K maiden claimer, getting beat a dozen lengths on the regular will go to PM, drop in for a $4K or $2.5K maiden claimer and get sent to post at microscopic odds. Obviously I'm not telling you anything you probably don't already know, but the racing in Portland, at least from a quality perspective, is horrific. A bad NoCal horse towers over a decent Oregon horse almost any day. Of those 68 horses, exactly FIVE have gone off at better than 9-5 on the tote board all meet. 43 have been sent off at less than even money. Granted, winning nearly 60% is winning nearly 60%, but there's no real magic to it, IMO. |
