Default Daytona 500

That trifecta today would have paid seven figures for a buck.

A 20-year-old in his 2nd lifetime race won for a guy who hadn't won a race in 10 years.

The Taco Bell car was tons the fastest late and finished 3rd - but only had two laps to work with. Here is what is says about that car ...

Quote:
Gilliland, came into the Daytona 500 with 150 career NASCAR Sprint Cup starts, with only two top-five and seven top-10 starts to show for it. His team, Front Row Motorsports, had made 196 starts in parts of seven seasons, never once having finished a single race in the top 10.
How the fucl< do you run in 196 car races - and never once finish in the top 10? That car came from out of nowhere at the end.

He (and his team/car) are just a 5k claimer trying to win a Grade 1.

with a 16% takeout and pari-mutual betting ... I say the winner is 350/1 and 3rd place is 600/1... and both are overbet at those prices.

FRM was a start-up a couple seasons back and are just now starting to get the same caliber equipment as the other teams. I don't think they're going to be throwing down top 10's with regularity, but Gilliland/Kvapil have always been strong at the restrictor plate races, and I don't see any reason why the 34/37/38 teams can't be vastly improved over last year.

there is a Chevy guy at work that hates Fords. Why? Cause he is a Chevy guy. Feels good that a Ford won.
