![]() The published 3rd quarter is 23.90 - the correct 3rd quarter is 24.13.
The published final 1/8th is 13.03 - the correct final 1/8th is 12.76 Basically - the timer was tripped several seconds early... and that left the people attempting to hand time the fractional sections of the race with tricky angles. The 24.13 third quarter and 12.76 final quarter are as solid as a rock. As for the correct opening 1/4 and opening 1/2 ... no one will ever know for sure. I'm not sure if this was case of birds causing trouble - but these winter tracks like Gulfstream, Tampa, and Santa Anita need to start getting all of the birds out of there. Presque Isle Downs infield was a gathering spot for tens of thousands before the start of the inaugural meet - a landfill is less than a mile away and you'd find chicken bones in the parking lot that birds dropped. If Presque Isle could remove an entire army of birds from its infield so fast - why can't these warm weather winter tracks? Do you really need to see birds flying around at the track? The Infield at Tampa is overrun with birds. When they turn for home on the turf course - you see hundreds of them scatter. |

![]() That also means the correct final 3/8th was 36.89 and not 36.93 ... at least he was only off by 0.04 seconds there ... but still .. that's a much easier angle.
I'm going to guess the opening half mile was also very close to what they have published. They probably have the 1st quarter a little slow and the 2nd quarter a little fast. |
