![]() This is truly scary, and an absolute infringement upon our freedoms as voters, as citizens, to control our own towns.
If Obama did this, heads would literally be spinning off, and the cries of "fascist government takeover" wouldn't cease. Quote:

![]() Riot, if the state voted Republican, then, what do you expect to have happen? Unless people get an ass kickin', they won't understand why it's a poor choice to vote for an R. The Middle Class is confused who to vote for. I don't think they will be confused again. Let them learn their lesson. Don't try to avoid that. They need a good ass kickin'.

![]() We can't possibly be this dumb, as a country. How can anybody in Michigan be standing for this? (it started under the Dem Governor).
Where a Governor, without your say, can come into your town, fire your Village board, shut down your schools (that your tax dollars bought and paid for), fire the teachers, and sell off the buildings? And your town has nothing to say about it? Hello? America? Do you care what happens to you?

![]() Well, this is what happens when people think the 2 parties are about the same.
They were too lazy to try to understand the basic ideology involved. They gave people from a single political party all the power. To now be surprised that these people are doing whatever ideological stuff they want to do? Do you know how ignorant that is? This is how ignorant a large part of the electorate is. Uh, yea, when Republicans have all the power, they will try to destroy unions. Gee, duh muthafkr! They interviewed a Madison Fireman today. He voted for Walker, and he says he feels duped. To me, that's shockingly ignorant. I think this whole situation is a lesson in civics that many Americans badly need. This is 100% about ignorant people voting against their own best interests. Eat your dinner, and shut the fk up. Know the ideology of the people involved. Last edited by SCUDSBROTHER : 03-14-2011 at 11:28 PM. |

![]() Again this has nothing to do with private unions.
If the City of Detroit were a business it would be shut down yesterday. Throwing money instead of logic at everything government, from education to lavish buildings has caught up to many and it's not a coincidence it's hitting heavily unionized, over-staffed states/cities first. Cities that have acted responsibly in the past should not be penalized (taxed) for those who didn't. Big government doesn't work and NEVER will. Obama and politicians in general need to stop acting like a spoiled wives with limitless credit!

You just said, "big government doesn't work" - what is bigger than a dictatorship? What is more authoritarian than one "elected" official taking over a state? What is bigger than a governor being able to literally take over a town, fire elected officials, fire hired officials, and interfer in the way a town is run? Like Walker just did in Wisconsin? What would you think if this law read like this: "According to the law, Obama will be able to declare “financial emergency” in towns or school districts and appoint someone to fire local elected officials, break contracts, seize and sell assets, and eliminate services. Under the law whole cities or school districts could be eliminated without any public participation or oversight." I cannot believe that citizens are not literally taking up arms against this!

![]() I think Progressives should feel a bit duped by him. National Healthcare was an important part of his candidacy. If people voted for him, and didn't want national healthcare, then, they were ignorant. Those people who expected him to honor his promise to allow the 2001 tax cuts for the rich to expire? They got duped. Those that expected him to honor his promise to recognize the Armenian Genocide? They got duped. He said "You need to make sure your child can speak Spanish." So, you knew going in that he'd be weak on curbing illegal immigration. I guess you could say that the stimulus is a reason one might feel duped, but it's hardly unique for a Democratic President to use Government resources to help people during a depression/recession. I think one could feel duped that he didn't go after Wallstreet thieves. Again, this is more of a progressive's disappointment.

Yeah, that's a good comparison. ![]() Rather than changing the subject to how much you dislike Obama, how about talking about the subject - what do you think about the Michigan bill? I would think you'd be pretty incensed about that type of government takeover over private citizens? The removal of voting rights? A literal dictatorship?
