Default While we were distracted, Fukushima at 10,000,000 times normal level

Article here:

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/national/T110327002727.htm

"When three workers were exposed to radiation on the basement floor of the turbine building of the plant's No. 3 reactor on Thursday, the radiation level of the water was 400 millisieverts per hour. The level increased to 750 millisieverts per hour Saturday."

Normal exposure is about 1 sievert per year. They are getting 0.75 sieverts per hour. Do the math.

Don't really think there was any choice but to lie to the workers to keep them there as they were the only hope of stabilizing the reactors and limiting damage. That said where is the 'BP like outrage' and the associated demands for escrow accounts by the nuclear and insurance companies to pay for present and future damages? Or is that only applicable to companies operating in the US?

Maybe, but in order for deception to work, the people must be willing to believe what the government says.

I think you're correct, but the fact that the answer has to be "everything is fine, nothing to see here, move along..." makes the answer by the government perfectly predictable, and therefore irrelevant to any individual with an active mind.
