Pletcher says blinkers off, on to Churchill to train for the Derby.

Might as well he already has enough cash. I never understand why horses(Comma to the Top) who have enough money pass on the race?? Run the damn horse and who knows what will happen

I would not bet him but stranger things have happened(MTB and Shackleford running 2nd)

Yeah, why run horses in races they can win, and try to bring them along reasonably, when you can perhaps ruin them in races they have no chance in.

Stay Thirsty is the heavy favorite right now to be the horse leading up to the Derby that misses a couple of days of training with a "foot" problem, has his final work postponed by a day or two, works a scorching 1/2 mile on entry day, and then comes up with an injury about an hour later.

I don't know if that's possible ... without the blinkers he was getting outworked by Colizeo.

Who ran a BIG race Saturday.

I want to know the reasoning behind the " Stay Thirsty wants to run all day " nonsense. Is it because Andromeda's Hero beat Nolan's Cat in the Belmont?

He does want to run all day, or perhaps he just wants all day to run?

Because they are using their brains and putting their ego's aside. And these are Hollywood movie people with BIG They will let Peter bring this gelding along properly. Watch out when he gets back on the lawn.

Not really sure that any praise should be tossed the connections' way with regards to Comma To The Top, simply because they (at least for the moment) made the logic decision to bypass the Kentucky Derby.

He was campaigned aggressively late last year ("he thrives on racing") to great effect, but now, predictably, has fallen apart in his two starts this year.

Seems all the "best interest of the horse" posturing is just a prefabricated excuse in anticipation of another humbling in the Santa Anita Derby. I'm actually curious as to why he's even running in the race in the first place. If he happens to win, is he really going to skip going to Churchill? I doubt it.

What's wrong with Repole? He's a St. John's guy.

That's probably why they're sticking with the plan for now with stay thirsty. If something did go wrong with Mo, then the connections can still be represented in the derby..albeit with a horse with no chance.

I agree that it's too early to completely rule him out for the Derby. However, in light of where pace rivals Runflatout and Albergetti finished in the San Felipe, Comma to the Top's effort in that race, where he was second to deep stretch, was pretty good.

That '05 Belmont still has to be one of the more oddly bet major races in recent memory.

They'll wait until the morning of the race to scratch him. Stay Thirsty might not even be entered.

I agree. The effort was good and proves that the horse has a lot of "heart". However, in terms of current form, I'd expect the horse to go backwards off the effort, not forward.

Especially since his connections are having a rethink about his campaign all of a sudden.

Repole is going to try to draw his two horses next to each other then scratch Stay Thirsty to give Uncle Mo more room.
