Default Corma Ray?

Does anybody remember this horse?
The sad news of the sting ray attacking the alligator hunter made me think of this horse.

He was brilliant in the mid 90's. Hard knocking, game old campaigner. He raced almost exclusively on the NYRA circuit.

Many should remember, some who dont are missing out.

That was Nick Kling and the horse I was asking about was Iron Gavel. He was a real beaut in the 90's. Horse gave you everything he had every time. I dont blame Nick for being a little suspicious, the guy gets crank calls very often. Nice guy and very knowledgable about the sport, but very little sense of humor.

I love reminiscing about old horses. NYRA in the 90's was an awesome thing.

Corma ray was a NY bred with every high speed. I believe he started out with Tim Hills but I may be mistaken on that one.
He was extremely fast, thats for sure.

Yes he was trained by Tim Hills. Ridden by Jorge Chavez in his biggest wins, and also Mike Smith.

I'd like to add that this thread is more sick and distasteful than any thread I ever started!!!

Not at all, I wasnt being distasteful. It just made me think of one of my favorite horses from the 90's Corma Ray. I didnt tell that guy to go out and swim with 10 foot killer animals in the ocean.

Hey, Gander; I found a few trivia bits about Corma Ray and posted them on the other thread-- mainly that they named an allowance race at AQ after him in 2002. Link on the Crocodile Hunter thread.

Unbelievable. 96 posts on the Bellamy Road retirement thread and like 100 about polytrack. Nobody really even wants to talk about a real horse who actually accomplished something on the track like Corma Ray. Soemtimes I wonder why I even bother anymore, sigh.
