Default Now liberals are trying to bail out of crazy

First I've heard of this

Quote:
Liberals In Southern Arizona Seek To Form New State

TUCSON, Arizona (Reuters) - A long-simmering movement by liberal stalwarts in southern Arizona to break away from the rest of the largely conservative state is at a boiling point as secession backers press to bring their longshot ambition to the forefront of Arizona politics.

A group of lawyers from the Democratic stronghold of Tucson and surrounding Pima County have launched a petition drive seeking support for a November 2012 ballot question on whether the 48th state should be divided in two.

The ultimate goal of the newly formed political action committee Start our State is to split Pima County off into what would become the nation's 51st state, tentatively dubbed Baja Arizona.

Crazy as it seems now, I would not be shocked to see more of this in the future.

Most days, I wouldn't even be upset if this country just split into two separate nations.

The Libertarian country would fall apart really quickly, I think. I'm always attracted to that set of beliefs, and then get to realizing that I'm pretty sure it's AWESOME in theory, and would be a total disaster in full practice.

And I would love to live in a country with all lefty's -- or pretty much any place where constant arguments about bodily autonomy and equality weren't commonplace, because the right to both was completely understood as so obvious it was painful.

when old people die, the right will be better off. its funny because denying equal rights is so against what conservatism stands for. the pandering to religion thing sickens me. it makes sense though why some christians are so angry and hateful... besides Jesus being about love, the rest of the bible features a very hateful and murderous god.

I think a libertarian country would be just fine, depending on the type of people who choose to live there. you get a group of hard workers, elect Ron Paul, and there ya go! besides, you know pot would be legalized there, so how bad could it be? LOL

i'd look forward to the heated debate over whether traffic signals were an unconstitutional government intrusion into individual rights.

i can judge whether it's safe to go or not. i don't need the nanny state forcing my hand.
