Default Scuds Federer/Roddick

Scudsy its 4-4 in the 3rd set with one set all. Roddick is into it and Federer appears human. Can Roddick pull this out?

I hope not but you have to hand it to him, he is playing very well today. Lots of confidence.

Red face

I think it was a little early to say Federer is human. I still think hes a machine, lol. Any chance we'll see that white jacket after this?

Fantastic!

I think losing that second set just "perked his interest" a little bit and then business as usual .... definitely a machine

Gander he was indeed human for a while.
I'd really like to see a rival emerge who could push federer but it just doesnt seem meant to be.
Hes been in a league of his own for quite some time. A complete player.

Federer appears to have multiple gears, and just teases people. From what I have seen,Nadal has his # on clay, and Safin(on his best day)can indeed beat Federer in the Australian or the U.S. OPEN.Unfortunately,Safin has his best day every 5 years, or so.I think people don't realize how good Safin is at his best.He beat Sampras in the U.S. OPEN,and Federer at the Australian Open.I expect Safin to get one more major.

Its all Federer. All these other guys are little blips on the screen. He will get Nadal on clay. Mark it. Federer will win the French and win more grand slam tourney's than any other player in history. All he needs to do is stay healthy and not get bored. And that may be a tough task being so much better than everyone else. He is the best I have ever seen. He is the most dominant player in the history of Tennis. If he does not win the French however, he will not be considered what I have already crowned him.

Scuds-
A lot of the stuff you say about tennis I don't agree with, but I think your right on with Safin's ability to take down the top players, even Federer. The obvious problem is he cant beat the guys who arent in the top 20, thus he will only have very few chances to ever win that major again. But if I had to say yes or no to him winning at least 1 more major, I'd say yes.
Oracle-
As far as a rival goes, I think Nadal will be his closest. I think losing to him in the Wimbledon final really hurt Nadal. I really believe Nadal thought he "owned" Federer. He still owns a commanding edge against Federer, 4-2 lifetime I think, but Federer is the best all around player by far.

Federer will win the French. And more than once. Anyone who thinks he wont is kidding themselves. Hes already come closer than Sampras, whos best French was an appearance in a semi. I agree with everything Pgard says about this guy. Plus, like Tiger Woods, he is all class and theres nothing phony about him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he swept the slams next year. Outside of Nadal you've got nothing but a bunch of mental midgets on the tour who would rather kiss Federer's ass and call him the GOAT rather than man up and try and beat him.

(Replace Federer with Woods)

Well, let's look at this French thing reasonably.Federer has simply romped in the other 3 majors this year.He did not even threaten Nadal in the French Final. He has never come that close to actually winning that. There is no reason he shouldn't have won the French this year.He has dominated the other 3 majors. So,this year,I actually think we saw what should be his best attempt at the French. He has been awesome this year.So why would he up and win the French next year(when his best tennis has been in this year?)I think it will take an injury to Nadal, and even then,I am not sure Federer would beat all the other fine Clay players.I think he has no chance of beating a healthy Nadal at the French Open. He obviously would have done it this year(if he was going to do it.)Nadal will only get better on clay(not worse.)

The odds of Federer winning compared to Woods are astronomically higher. Lets not lose our heads and say Federer's achievements are equal.

He did not even threaten Nadal in the French Final

At the French, Federer won the 1st set 6-0. Sure he didnt threaten but he did give Nadal a run at least making him play 4 sets. You act like he got beat in straight sets 6-1 6-2 6-1 or something like that. I disagree totally that Nadal needs to be injured for Federer to have a shot against him on clay in the French. Hes improving every year on clay. Nadal will eventually lose on clay and theres no reason the most complete player we've ever seen cant dethrone him.

One thing Federer seldom gets credit for is his amazing serve. Hes got teriffic speed and angles on both 1st and 2nd. The reason nobody talks about it is because the other parts of his game our so dominating, unlike a guy like Roddick who only really has a huge serve, little else.

Winning 9 Grand Slam tournaments having played in only 30 of them is a pretty steep accomplishment. Both guys are absolutely brilliant. Whats amazing about Federer is he seldom ever gets hurt and misses time in a very demanding sport like tennis. Golf isnt very taxing on your body.

Federer played in his 4th match in 5 days yesterday.

Fed is just insane to watch. Roddick was throwing the kitchen sink at him and to me, Federer was thinking "hey Andy, is that all you have?". he won without having to use the whip, just hands and heels!. He is just the most complete athlete of our generation!
