BC tosses, longshots, locks and sentimental picks
I figured there would be 20,000 threads in the Pad Lock (and rightly so!) so maybe we could have a little fun down here too...
Anyone wanna go first and just tell us one silly or sentimental bet they're planning? Who they won't be using and if there's a stupid reason behind it... that kinda thing? Are you rooting against someone? Love a certain name, sire, dam, owner... Prettiest tail? Anything! C'mon. You know you want to. |

Sure.
(That Kardashian thread was a bit too esoteric for me) For Fri: I like Elusive Kate best, then Stephanies Kitten in the mile turf Who's gonna beat Switch in the sprint? I'd use Great Hot & Musical Romance under. Torn Between Ultra Blend & Royal Delta in the classic For Sat, my top picks, maybe some good prices: Marathon-Birdrun 1m turf-Caspar Netscher (thinking of changing my name to that) 1m dirt-Jersey Town 1 1/2 turf Sea Moon/Midday Classic-Headache |

Ann of the Dance...for obvious reasons. First turf and and first Marty Wolfson don't hurt either. She we see a few of my dollars tossed her way.

My top overrated false favorites are
Uncle Mo Turbulent Descent Plum Pretty The Factor (now watch them all win) I do kinda have a hunch on Tres Borrachos in the mile. I'll throw a couple of bucks on him. I'll be there!! |

It's more of an "inkling" than a hunch because I play the Cal tracks all the time and am very familiar with him.
There's a ton of speed in the race, maybe Wilburn, Refutable & Trappe Shot can stalk. I figure the latter is the best of the stalkers. Then you have the closers, Calebs Posse & Tres Borrachos. It's interesting to me that suddenly TB shows early speed in a 1 1/16, which he hasn't done for a long time. He gets Rosario, the best jock in SoCal, decent trainer too. I'd like to see a work at CD but wouldn't expect it to be fast. He's an interesting prospect. Can you imagine what a 4/7 exbox would pay? |

How about the most unsentimental of picks?
Drosselmeyer. I've never liked this horse for any race, but will be using him on Saturday. |

I really haven't gotten that deep in to the cappin as of yet, but I will be using him as well. Just get the feeling that something strange might happen in that race.

Other than that, my only comment is the absolute worst choice anywhere in this mess is Dressaagemeyer. He causes despondence in my noodle just by seeing or hearing the name. |

I'm rooting for the horses I bet. Hope all the rest lose

I'm going to be using him too. Mike Welsch reported that he worked exceptional and that he's liked him all week. Good enough for me. Plus I had him in the Belmont when he won. Drossy owes me nothing and I'm a big Distored Humor fan.

I’ll begin to handicap in earnest tomorrow, so all I have right now are largely sentimental favorites and hunches (some might argue that that’s ALL I usually have, but this is in esoteric so what the hay).
In the Marathon I like two horses to surprise, Meeznah and Pleasant Prince. Juvy Turf: Finale. The Sprint: Giant Ryan and Jackson Bend, with Aikenite in the mix just because I’m a fan of him and of Cot Campbell. Turf Sprint: Regally Ready and Chamberlain Bridge, if he can overcome the outside post, and good old longshot California Flag. The Mile is really interesting, with The Factor, Shack and Wilburn, but I will also put down a bet on Tres Borrachos. In the Juvy Union Rags, Dullahan and yes, Hansen. The MILE: You know who, but also Goldikova, and Turallure, and Court Vision for old time’s sake. The Classic: I'm all over the place. Absolute favorite (real and sentimental) is Havre de Grace. Would love to see Flat Out win for Scooter Dickey, and I believe he's capable. Uncle Mo – I’ve loved him since last year’s Breeders’ Cup win, and he seems fully mended and ready. My longshots are To Honor and Serve and, what's his name . . . Dressaagemeyer? Of course So You Think is a wildcard. But my past experience with wildcards is to get burned, so I’ll stay away – at my own risk admittedly. Safe races to all. |

I'd like to see "Scarface" run well. Might in a little over his head but always liked the horse.

Tossing Mo. He's this year's Quality Road. At least QR had won a couple 1 1/8 races. Mo hasn't even done that.

Uh,NotePad ( may I call you NotePad?)...if you are thinking 4/7 is a ZC,you are wrong in the first degree. You can take 4/7 for nothing else to play, but if you think the names marry to those numbers then that's death penalty consequences Not too worry though, you're not alone.Everyone in this thread , save one-----make that two ----has shown their kumquattery in this thing. So don't feel bad. |
