Trakus info
Read this online:
The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile usually produces 2-year-olds who whet fans’ interest in the next season’s Triple Crown series, but Saturday’s race gave no indication that the 3-year-olds of 2012 will be a banner crop. Hansen led all the way to win it, but he was hanging on desperately at the finish. Runner-up Union Rags was probably the better horse; he raced wide around both turns, and the Trakus data system employed by Churchill Downs said Union Rags had traveled 78 feet more than the winner. Does anybody know if that Trakus info can easily be found online? Would be a good handicapping tool to know exactly how much ground was lost vs. a vague "4-5 wide". |

It's only installed @ 4 NA tracks: Keeneland, Churchill, Del Mar and Woodbine.
According to their website, you have to have professional racing credentials to get access to their T-Net database, but you can follow them on Twitter - they were providing these updates literally seconds after the race had completed during the Breeders Cup. |

It's coming to a lot more tracks in the near future. . . if you go to the track in question's website there's usually a section that features the data for free. I can't find it on Churchill's site, but it's easy to find on the sites of those three other tracks.

Full disclosure...I work for Trakus...
It debuts at Gulfstream on opening day and you can expect it at many more soon. Also, internationally, it is available in Turkey (Veliefendi), Singapore (Kranji), and Dubai (Meydan). It's also in at Mohawk in Canada. Tracks control the distribution of information as of now... http://ww2.keeneland.com/racing/List...alt.aspx#chart http://www.woodbineentertainment.com...roughbred.aspx http://www.dmtc.com/racinginfo/trakus.php Churchill does not have the data on their website as of right now, but that could change soon. |

Pat, are you aware of any discussions/plans to incorporate their data (particularly ground covered) into any of the past performance platforms (BRIS, DRF, Equibase, etc.)?

There is quite a bit going on and we are really focused on getting a wider base of tracks - plenty more to come from us beyond that, though.

Tampa also cut the WPS takeout from 17.5% to 17% and added a 50-cent Pick 5 with a 15% takeout.
Nothing to get excited about -- but they have at least kept with the dozen or so year tradition of takeout cuts to start the racing season. |
