Default Best Buy scans license for returns, blocks for 90 days

Another case where ID is needed, but don't even try this for voting in a Federal election.

Can we just put Best Buy in charge of preventing voter fraud?

i can understand stores wanting to combat fraud, but i don't agree with this particular practice. it's an overreach.

I agree with you in the "90 day lockout" on returns being an overreach.

Since this is a marketplace and not the government, however, the countermeasure is simple: I won't shop there any more frequently than once every 90 days, and purchase no more than one item when I do. This way, I don't give up any freedom - in this case consumer protection - due to their arbitrary policy.

Oh - and if I should suffer any damages due to identity theft during that 90 days - they may possibly get sued for not protecting my personal information.

True. Constitutional Right >> (much greater than) Retail Shopping.

Having said that, why will there be less fraud in retail shopping due to increased diligence on the part of those in that field than the fraud in voting?
