What about the small businesses forced to close early last Friday here in Roanoke for Obama's visit? Ya know, many of the same businesses that lost even more money a couple weeks earlier because of the massive power outage that swept the area? Why was it so necessary to have his speech at the old Firehouse #1 in the middle of Downtown, as opposed to having it at the Civic Center 1 mile down the road, where no businesses would have been forced to close?
THE PRIVATE SECTOR IS DOING GREAT!!! GTFOH with that hypocritical bullsh*t. |

I'd guess you fully support the Texas Republican Party's 2012 platform regarding education.

Ranting off about something completely unassociated with subject of thread... Attack Obama ... Misquote Obama ... Insult poster of thread ... Hey, thanks for playing! If you ever want to discuss, you know, the subject of the thread, come on back anytime. Otherwise, we'll just always wonder in what weird, warped mindset you can call me a hypocrite (the idea is hypocritical) for posting about a media lie, because you don't like the President appearing downtown in Roanoke? Media lie ... anger over a presidential appearance. Sure, those two things are totally associated! It's hypocritical bullshi.at. to mention a media lie, when you're personally angry over the President of the United States appearing in your town! I should have seen that! I should have known you are personally pissed at Obama, and not dared to mention a media lie about something else entirely! Of course! Bizzaro world.

Which part of
“If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” did you not understand? Direct quote, not paraphrasing. Obama stepped in it this time. This might have been a Howard Dean scream moment for him. |

FYI: It's not ALL about you, Beth. The "GTFOH with that hypocritical bullsh*t" comment was directed at Obama, not you. |

“If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen,” he declared outside Roanoke Fire Station No. 1 to applause from a faithful crowd.
“If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there.” Words that were spoken. If you want to say you wouldn't have a business if it weren't for roads or the internet, then that is what you should say. The thought that roads would exist without the business that actually pay for them in ridiculous. Industry drives government, not the other way around. Taken out of context is the big argument, then keep things in context and you won't look like a douche to the hundreds of thousands of people that DO make it happen on their own. Perhaps someone that has never really had to work in order to earn should keep his comments about those of us that do to himself.

I have no doubt about that, but it isn't meant to be done to earn a living.

As I said in my reply. This thread is about Faux News and their continued lying. Not about Obama. If you just want to go off on a, "I hate Obama and his appearance in Roanoke" rant, do it elsewhere?

The statement that the mixed-race son of a poor single mother, left with his grandparents, who worked and got into Columbia, then Harvard, became and worked as a lawyer, then got involved in state politics, then was elected Senator, then President of the United States, "never really had to work" is beyond absurd and laughable.[/quote] Do you have a private sector employment history that shows if the President didn't make any money for his company that week he didn't get paid. Don't take things out of context, I said work to EARN. It takes work to go to school and write books but neither of those is like making payroll for 22 people when your company didn't have a good month or quarter. Supplying the entire quote for the 2-3 people that haven't heard it in its entirety will soften the blow but it still shows that this President is clueless when it comes to understanding common business and economics.

If you want to look at someone who was gifted, geeshus, look at Romney. He never started from scratch. The toughest period in his life, according to his wife, was when they were "poor" in school, and they had to live off stock income! He never made any product. But he still "worked" in my view.
