Default US Citizenship for sale - $465.00

Here's the trick - Whatever you do, just don't call it "Citizenship"!!!

It gets "those" people that actually earned that right all riled up!!!

You just give us 465.00 and you get essentially every single advantage of being a US citizen, legally.

Oh, except you can't vote (like that really matters anymore!!)

Yeah Obama!!!!

Your title is an outright exaggerated lie. They do not get citizenship.

They get a work permit, and that's it. They do not get any citizenship rights. They get no preferential treatment . They are risking a lot, as they could be deported.

This is a good thing. Actually, it's a great thing. Yes, thank you, President Obama, for doing what Bush wanted to do for so long. Let those young people that served in our military and are good citizens get a work permit to try to get on the path to citizenship.

A reminder - Obama has already deported over 800,000 illegal immigrants, more than the entire 8 years of Bush. Illegal immigration is judged way down because of it.

Oh - and they pay $465 so American citizens who hate immigrants here through no fault of their own can't bitch and moan and effing whine that "my taxes" are paying for this. They are not. The immigrants are paying for it.

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration on Tuesday directed young illegal immigrants to fill out new forms and pay $465 if they want to apply under a new program that would let them avoid deportation and obtain a U.S. work permit.

The government renewed warnings that the process wouldn't lead to citizenship or give them permission to travel internationally. It will begin accepting immigrants' applications Wednesday.

The paperwork for the program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, can be downloaded from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, said the agency's director, Alejandro Mayorkas. Applicants must pay a $465 fee and provide proof of identity and eligibility.

Under guidelines that the administration announced Tuesday, USCIS said proof of identity and eligibility under the program could include a passport or birth certificate, school transcripts, medical and financial records and military service records. DHS said that in some instances, multiple sworn affidavits, signed by a third party under penalty of perjury, could also be used.

A decision on each application could take several months, and immigrants have been warned not to leave the country while their application is pending. If they are allowed to stay in the United States and want to travel internationally, they will need to apply for permission to come back into the country, a request that would cost $360 more.

The administration announced the plan in June to stop deporting many illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children. To be eligible, immigrants must prove they arrived in the United States before they turned 16, are 30 or younger, have been living here at least five years, and are in school or graduated or served in the military. They also cannot have been convicted of certain crimes or otherwise pose a safety threat.

Mayorkas said being approved to avoid deportation "does not provide lawful status or a path to citizenship."

Great giving a work permit to a non US citizen when we are at 15% unemployment.

Yeah, better to throw that college graduate or US army soldier who fought for you in Iraq out of the country. Said no one, ever.

Reality: they are already here. They are already your neighbor. They are already in school, working. They are already contributing citizens. They are paying local, state taxes, possibly federal. They are not "taking" diddly-shiat- they are contributing, right now. And they are risking everything to come out of the shadows, a shadow they didn't chose nor were responsible for, to be put "into the system". And a good number of them will be deported as not eligible when they come forward.

my son is in the navy....he went to DMV in charleston sc to get a motorcycle permit, as he recently bought a crotch rocket (yay). he had both his current drivers license, as well as his military id, also had his s.s. card. they still demanded other proof, so i had to overnight his birth certificate. for a mc permit.

and people from another country who are here without proper paperwork can get a work visa with less i.d. there's something very wrong here.

see, you're looking at it all wrong. the $465 per permit will go to the paychecks of the people they'll have to hire to process the permits. it's a win-win situation! so, offer work, altho there may not be jobs, so that you can provide jobs. it's perfect.

So you didn't understand the part about them being brought here illegally as children, so they don't have all that stuff?

And this special program for children brought here as children is precisely because they don't have all that stuff?

And you're complaining they don't have the ID to prove they don't have ID?

God help this country.

Too bad these people are already working or in school, or you might have had a cogent argument against letting these young people and children stay in what they know as their home country.

Check your sources.

Obama has removed 1.4 million people during his 42 months in office so far. Fewer than under George W. Bush, whose cumulative total was 2 million.

Military service should grant citizenship, instantly.
Advanced degree, might as well include them too. Can't have Engineers, Scientists and Doctors (not that anyone will want to become Dr.s anymore) leaving or being kicked out.

and i think that was the point for the mandate, many people who we would want to stay here don't. they all get lumped into a group.
and anyone who is outraged just at the thought that an illegal might be able to stay....ever hear of empathy? it's the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes mentally. just imagine being brought here as an infant or young child, this being the only home you ever have known. you grow up here, meld here, feel every inch an american. and then you find your parents didn't follow all the proper procedures, and you might get sent to somewhere you know nothing about-the language, the culture, nothing. boy, that sounds great, doesn't it?

i'd imagine they wanted a long enough period, but not too long-perhaps there's an ability to reapply after? that way, a new fee paid as well. more money comes in.

and like the first linked article said, it's not a path to citizenship. it's just a way to get people to get 'legal', come out of the shadows, get enrolled, and for the govt to most importantly get some $$$. it allows them to weed out the ones they don't want to stay.

Link your source. Because not even the Obama or Bush administrations have used the numbers you are using.

When do 'our' new permitted workers get counted in employment/unemployment figures?

and do we have a number or percentage of those (illegals) that have served in the military?

Truth behind hope and change sux!

i don't know that an illegal alien would be eligible to join the u.s. military; i don't think they can, since they're illegal. non-u.s. citizens can and do join, to attempt gaining citizenship that way
and i'd imagine that they would be listed in figures once they are actively searching for work, or if they get hired and later get laid off, thus getting unemployment benefits.
