Hurricane Sandy as the October Surprise
I'm thinking that Obama, concerned that Romney is gaining momentum and in order to deflect growing criticism about the way Benghazi went down, is going to seize on the impending force majeure to make himself look presidential and in charge.
Expect him to appear in the middle of areas that take the brunt of the storm, probably to the point of him hanging out of Coast Guard helicopters or cutters a la that ridiculous picture of a helmeted Dukakis in a tank. Thing of it is, if he plays it right, it might work for him. One thing about it, he will certainly take heat if he keeps campaigning while the crap is hitting the fan. The next few days should be very interesting. Anyway, I hope all DT'ers in the northeast come through ok; I'm in the now "storm-free" state of Florida, which dodged this bullet. |

That's the important thing: stay safe because this is going to be a rough ride.

Hurricane Sandy as the October Surprise
Will the last week before the election belong to Obama or Romney?
Some considerations: 1. Gas prices are dropping everywhere. Once upon a time not too long ago, the R's were going to hang O with the price of gas. 2. Newspaper endorsements are all over the map. Haven't been keeping score, but I know Romney got a key one in Des Moines, IA, but Obama's got some surprising ones as well. 3. Some talk about how the unemployment numbers may not be available on Friday. 4. Maybe most important will be the way Sandy plays out. Obama's forces are reminding voters that Romney wants to kill FEMA, while both campaigns are temporarily on hold. You can be sure that Obama will adhere to the old adage about "never letting a good crisis go to waste.". |

He's going to cut through all the Fed regulations despite being one of the most prolific creators of Federal regs.
