Default Calumet Farm stallion roster

http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...o-calumet-farm

The stallions they have going into 2013 so far are Americain, Aikenite, and now Lentenor. Cot Campbell said it was being set up as a breed to race operation back when Aikenite was purchased.

I heard Kelley had several mares bought specifically for Dynaformer so it made sense when Calumet picked up Americain. Lentenor's a curious addition. I guess he didn't want to put all his eggs in one Dynaformer basket so to speak. Lentenor should get a stronger book than you might expect with his race record.

In 'hey that's neat, didn't expect to see him in there' pedigree news, I just noticed Americain has Rosemont on his dam's side.

What races are you breeding to win from those stallions? Maiden 15 turf races at Tampa or the breeders cup marathon if they decide to move it to the turf?

That's what I can't figure out. Was a proven dirt stallion not on his shopping list? Here's a Bloodhorse article on Americain, Aikenite, and Lentenor (mostly Americain): http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/truen...stallions.aspx

Just saw that Nicanor's standing at Shamrock Farm in Woodbine, Maryland for $2,500, but Lentenor ends up at Calumet. Curious.

Lentenor apparently retired in October with a tendon injury. Doesn't look like he tried dirt beyond the 4th in the Florida Derby which I thought was nice enough that they wouldn't give up on trying it again. You'd think with what Barbaro got done at Churchill, they'd have tried Lentenor on dirt there in some minor stake, esp. with how turfers do at CD compared to other places. I remember he had some sort of setback at age 2 where Matz had to ease back on his training. He had a few bullet works at least after that, I think. I wonder what happened. Dunno that they'd try to put him on the Derby trail with a wonky tendon, but maybe it developed in the Florida Derby and they just kept him off dirt after that since he could do turf well enough to try for blacktype there.

I don't know why he wouldnt want to get an established stallion to build around, especially considering that he has the funds. Not to mention if you hire Lukas to train your horses, standing turf horses doesnt make much sense.

Yeah, but Steinlen won a BC turf mile race, not that long ago.

Marlin must have been one of those antebellum horses that DrugS likes to write about.

What's the over/under on how many times DrugS uses that word now in the next 3 months?

I'm saying 4.5.

Why thank you!!!

I'm thinking of starting a new poll.

Something along the lines of "Most tiger images used pornographically in a single year" thread. Like, which DT member has used tiger images the most to get off.

Likey?
