Default 2/16: Gulfstream Park (3rd-11th); Santa Anita (4th-10th)

Was nice to get back to Aqueduct Friday and though I made a decent run at the P6, ignoring Royal Lahaina's potential in the 6 horse 8th was a death knell for overall success on the day. Looking back at the Riccio mare going first time for Rodriguez, she was every bit as eligible for the win as Hard Life (P6/P4 use) or Coco Ecolo (P4 use). Parisella Centrique was pretty disappointing as the favorite, having no answer for the winner when confronted at the top of the stretch. The P6 paid a robust $13k and Royal Lahaina really boosted the P4 which returned $1,203. Hope everyone did OK.

Training was cancelled at Gulfstream today due to the sloppy conditions. Rain is exiting the area but it is hard to know what we'll have for conditions during the afternoon. Turf stakes will almost certainly go, but the 5th, 7th and 11th may be moved. We'll see how it shapes up and I will do my best to keep you informed..

GULFSTREAM TURF: 7th, 8th, 10th are ON; 5th, 11th are OFF the turf..

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

3rd: OC/N1X, 3yo-F, 8.5f (P3, DD)

More one to watch than a betting affair with Juddmonte-Mott Emollient making soph bow. Will need to come back running as Pletcher-Bolton A.P. Indy miss Majestic River debutted well and figures even better 2-turning...

Sure to be overbet Capo Bastone makes Pletcher camp debut here and unless his style has been revamped, may find himself in awkward position trying to close on surface unkind to that tactic. I'll cast my lot with sneaky looking Tony Dutrow stretchout Edge of Reality (8-1)..

Thanks! Was a welcome outcome and was very surprised Tunic went off that high. Had a glowing workout note from Andy Harrington.

Feb. 7: Must adore the turf as this one turned in a power breeze over the grass with Maldonado aboard in 23.0, 59.3. Looking strong for the Bonde outfit. --- Grade: B+
