Lovely Syn fractured a sesamoid in her left front, to undergo surgery at New Bolton. Hopefully they can save her.

That really sucks. She had a ton of talent. Condolences to her connections.

Lovely Syn, the undefeated New York-bred 3-year-old filly who suffered a career-ending injury at Belmont Park on Saturday, underwent successful surgery Sunday, and the hope is she can become a broodmare.

So now it's basically fingers crossed that no laminitis develops, but sounds good. She's got a striking face. Such a shame she didn't have a chance to get graded earnings. I say breed her like she had'em. This is one of those situations where a mare's foals go on to do big things and people write about the dam's promising career cut short. Tiznow wouldn't be a bad option if they don't mind inbreeding to Seattle Slew. The cross of Storm Cat-line mares with Tiznow has led to Folklore, Tiz Wonderful, and American Lion.

Sorry to hear the news. That striking face belonged to her grand dam Ginny Dare that I owned with my racing partner. Javier Castellano said Lovely Syn was the quickest horse out of the gate he had ever ridden. What's interesting is the entire family has been better on the turf. Hopefully, she will make good babies. We only have one member of the family remaining, a 2yo filly from Lovely Syn's half sister by Kingmambo. She had such a white blaze we nicknamed her "Moo."
