Default Hawthorne Gold Cup

Anyone watch this one? I seen the results and the local horse beat the Pletcher/Velaquez horse.

A.P. Arrow took a long time to get going, and couldn't run down the winner. Papi Chullo was a disappointment, as was that Emerald horse. I doubt anyone from this race makes a dent in the BCC, unless A.P. Arrow can slug up to get fourth.

I guess TVG doesn't have Hawthorne anymore.I think the Illinois Horsemen Association wanted more money or something.I imagine that TVG informed them that they have a low quality product, and then they moved over to HRTV.

IHA (or whatever its name is) pulled the signal from AP (without warning) from TVG because Hawthorne management had signed an exclusivity contract with with TVG. That meant that other folks who wanted to get the signal had to pay TVG a fee and Youbet said it wouldn't do it. That upset the IHA, so they tried to force TVG to make a special deal with Youbet. TVG gathered up its marbles and said "Fine, you don't want to be on our channel, we can fill the time just fine with other tracks." Cut off the nose to spite the face.

the gold cup field was a absolute joke even compared to the field@turfway which ran for a 150k less to boot! its no joke recieved a 100 beyer for the race for any1 who cares. hawthorne blows more than ever these days with the clubhouse closed off except for the gold cup room, the crowds have been horrible thus far this meet including gold cup day and illinois racing is in a huge downward spiral thanks to all the political crap going on here.......changes are needed mucho rapido!

TVG is peanuts compared to what Youbet pulls....this was a good thing for the industry. IHA told TVG to knock off the bullying for their tracks. TVG has a crap track lineup and is only busy when Del Mar or Hollywood is running. When they lose Churchill's network, they will be screwed

Wow.. Unanimous praise...

I spoke to Rebecca Maker yesterday and we had her on the show... She thought it was a pretty terrific edition of the Gold Cup ( ), and expects It's No Joke to continue developing. She always thought he was capable at 10f. She doesn't expect to go in the BC, and will likely point him for the Clark.

i prefer tvg to hrtv heavily but 1 gripe ive always had with tvg is that theyll skip showing you a live race from arlington or anywhere else for that matter just so you can see a live post parade in ny, heaven forbid you dont get to see a post parade live from ny

playa, they have been working on that, it has improved, from a year ago, i think they have goals on a monthly basis of showing more actual live races, a good goal if you ask me

No surprise for the Midwestern horse to knock off the overbet East Coast ship in. Had AP Arrow ever cracked a triple digit Beyer?

I've seen the last 20 some Gold Cups and this was probably the weakest field I can remember. I believe two horses in the race had EVER cracked ran a triple digit Beyer.
