Such sad news about Hoofit.

I saw him race a few times here at Ellerslie, and he always ran his heart out and did so well. His Bonecrusher Stakes win was terrific, and he was a really close second to subsequent multiple G1 winner Lion Tamer in the Champagne as a 2yo before running fourth in a G1. And I was following his US career with interest. Lovely horse.

That's a very vague article about Dullahan. Retirement due to "injury." He was one of my favorites.

Tendon. Could heal but with time involved, the dubious nature of return to 100% and stallion deal pending, can understand the move.

One of my favorites too. Have his sophomore campaign halter.

Mine too. I hope he stays here, but the 50/50 overseas chance means we might have to say goodbye. I can see why they want him and I'd completely understand it if he went to stud abroad. I hope the offers from American farms are good enough. I really think his yearlings would look good in the ring. Dullahan himself was $250,000 (the year after Mine That Bird but still).

I'm pretty close to these Donegal guys, even related to one of the principle share holders.
The thing I like about Jerry Crawford is he wants to race his stock and get the bold print, not just win and go to the shed.
They had a great buying run at Keeneland, and did their homework, so it looks good for them going forward...

Devastated. So close to green pastures and broodmares. Poor guy. I really feel for those connections. Things like this really must seem like a sucker punch.

So sad. I was lucky enough to be at the 2012 Derby, where he ran such a great race, and I've been a fan ever since.

What a week.
