Rock N Roll HOF
Cat Stevens? Are you kidding me?
Cat's in the Cradle? Morning Has Broken? If I was Gene Simmons I'd say, "we've been waiting a long time and we'll wait till next year." |

Harry Chapin who did Cat's in The Cradle.

Cat Stevens sold a ton of records in the 70's, he had quite a few hit singles and won a couple of ASCAP songwriting awards. He wrote The First Cut is the Deepest which was a monster hit for Rod Stewart and in more recent years Sheryl Crow. His music may not be for everyone, no music is but I think the resume is solid enough to qualify for the HOF so I got no issues.

Well since a lot of his songs were hits on the Rock Charts or pop charts whatever you wanna call them then he qualifies IMO. Wild World was another hit for him and later again number 1 if memory serves for Maxi Priest.

I am glad Nirvana got in, IMO Nevermind still holds up as one of the best Rock Records in the history of music. Not surprised they get in first year eligible, and man time is smokin along if it has been 25 years since their first record came out lol!

Folk rock is a legitimate form of rock; it's just not popular any more. Cat Stevens was very influential; I have no argument. Simon & Garfunkel are in the Hall, too, aren't they? They're also folk rock.
And I'm happy Hall & Oates made it in. They were, in my opinion, one of the best blue-eyed soul groups, and are unfairly judged for the ridiculousness that is the video for "Private Eyes." And Nirvana getting in makes me feel so very, very old.

agree with Hall & Oates and Nirvana, not a fan of Cat Stevens, I vaguely remember nearly getting tossed out of a bar for heckling a musican for playing Cat Stevens music, this was circa 1985
