![]() Bill Currin passed away Tuesday at 77 after an extended illness that saw his health steadily deteriorate. It was a privilege to get to know Currin during Stormello's career and spend time with him on his 2 trips to Gulfstream for the Fountain of Youth and Florida Derby. I remember first noting Currin's name when Memorette came around and he and partner Al Eisman bred and campaigned a number of good horses. Above his aplomb as horseman and breeder, he was an accomplished gentleman on many fronts and succeeded at virtually all the things he set out to do in life. He went to California as a would-be actor, traveled in Hollywood social circles and was a favorite guest for me on ATR from early on. A big loss to racing in Southern California and beyond. Condolences to his wife Betty and their 2 children.

![]() Thats too bad, I remember standing next to him during the post parade of the Ky Derby in 2007, he was very excited though his horse had no prayer.
