Off to the breeding shed. Then sell her babies and try and recoup the money that was spent on her..

Hey! It was her first start off a layoff.. cut her some slack will ya?

To be fair, it was her first off a 6+ month layoff and to her credit, tried to do something -- attend the pace -- that she'd never done before. It was the winner, who is graded stakes placed and 2nd/layoff, that got the favorable trip (as she plotted to).

She broke a bit slowly, and could have easily sat 3rd on the rail. But that wasn't good enough for Smith, who had to put her 3 wide and near the lead.. He then dropped back to where he would have been to begin with, except 3 wide instead of saving some ground. Came up short in the stretch. I'm not saying she's much, but she would have won that race with a smarter ride.

I agree that the winner got the best trip there, but to be fair, Ebblouissante got a pretty favorable trip behind the 5 pressing the 1 and had first run.

Can't disagree with your assessment of her race. Maybe she will get some black type when they move back over to Hollywood and race on synthetic.. Seriously though, she will bring a pretty penny in the sales ring one day in foal to a hot stallion.

O.k, so we chalk this race up as an experiment, first race off a layoff and a bad ride by Mike Smith.
The next race she should really be "the one". |

Hope we never have to hear about her again. That was a no-excuse loss to a freaking turf horse.

There was no evidence Macha was solely a turf horse. She never even tried dirt before, and the sire is Majestic Warrior, typically a dirt sire.

Yeah, I'm sure she'll turn out to be a real superstar on dirt. She ran almost 3 lengths slower than $8,000 claimers did in the previous race.

It does't look to good that the first race for 8k ran 2/5 faster.
