the latest in many disgraces by the va. the backlog of cases waiting to be processed is well-known, this on top of it is absolutely shameful, but less than surprising.

there's no reason why it takes so long for a returning injured vet to get his disability pay. since the dod and va handle the SAME people, they really should get their act together! it makes absolutely NO sense that their computer systems can't even communicate with each other.
as soon as the DOD removes a soldier or sailor from active duty due to disability, the case, intact, should immediately move to the VA with all the various work already completed.
but let's not kid ourselves. they make it damnably difficult to thwart people from collecting. and that's the biggest shame of all.

"There is a modern American dysmorphia when it comes to veterans. We see things that aren't really there, we tell ourselves we're doing things we're not really doing. We have a poetry in this country about our love and respect for veterans that is not matched by the prose of how veterans are actually treated." - Rachel Maddow

Default Nice way to treat our vets

Nothing about this surprises me. When my father-in-law, a disabled WWII vet, passed away while supposedly being cared for by the DVA in 2002, I brought a tort case against the DVA pro se. Got to the deposition phase when I realized I was outlawyered, so I wound up settling the case for a fraction of what I sued for.

Not at liberty to reveal the nature of the negligence, but believe me when I say that the VA caused my wife's father"s death.

Didn't realize this sort of neglect was so widespread..My VA in Richmond has 10 parking lots and they are always full..Stewart did a bit on this and went back to the Revolutionary war to show neglect.

Hard to rely or expect anything from a man who loathes you.

At least for the 8 years he was in.

And I thought his quote was far more important and telling (you know since he was Commander in Chief of the Military) than the hack journalist you quoted.
