Casey Kasem gone
Certainly falls more under the "society" than "politics" half, but he deserves a shout-out. Though most of us probably knew him from his long-distance dedications, for DTers of a certain Gen X age, we heard him first here:

I have fond memories of Casey when I was young and my 15 yo is a big fan of his Top 40 70s replays on Serius...RIP HOfer, you were Mr. DJ....

Casey was a big part of my early years listening to music too. Loved his voice.
Did anyone see the movie Ping Pong Summer yet? It was filmed in Ocean City, MD and in the beginning of the movie there's a sceen with the family driving to OC and listening to Casey. He goes into one of his long distance dedications. Too funny.  RIP Casey.
