Iron Gavel had great tactical speed. Could lead or could stalk. Jacksonport liked to come from off the pace as did his stablemate Federal Funds. Man those were the days. Horses actually ran long enough for you to have favorites. Now my wife asks me when is so and so racing again, and my answer is always the same...he/she retired. Good chance we got to see Bernardini run in person again on Saturday, probably the last time he runs in NY.
